An insight into space-time block codes using Hurwitz-Radon families of matrices

چکیده
It is shown that for four-transmitter systems, a family of four-by-four unit-rate complex quasi-orthogonal space–time block codes, where each entry equals a symbol variable up to a change of sign and/or complex conjugation, can be generated from any two independent codes via elementary operations. The two independent groups of codes in the family generally have different properties of diversity, but the codes in each group have the same diversity provided that the differential symbol constellation is symmetric. It is also shown that for four-transmitter systems, an eight-by-four unit-rate complex linear dispersion space–time block code can be constructed by using Hurwitz–Radon families of matrices of size eight such that diversity three is guaranteed even when all symbols are independently selected from any given constellation. This code is so far the only known unit-rate linear dispersion code that has diversity no less than three for four transmitters under any given constellation. r 2008 Elsevier B.V. A Quadratic Form Approach to ML Decoding Complexity of STBCs
Abstract— A linear space-time block code (STBC) is a vector space spanned by its defining weight matrices over the real number field. We define a Quadratic Form (QF), called the Hurwitz-Radon QF (HRQF), on this vector space and give a QF interpretation of the ML decoding complexity of a STBC. It is shown that the ML decoding complexity is only a function of the weight matrices defining the code...
متن کاملOn Space-Time Block Codes from Complex Orthogonal Designs
Space-time block codes from orthogonal designs recently proposed by Alamouti, and TarokhJafarkhani-Calderbank have attracted considerable attention due to the fast maximum-likelihood (ML) decoding and the full diversity. There are two classes of space-time block codes from orthogonal designs. One class consists of those from real orthogonal designs for real signal constellations which have been...
متن کاملRevisited Design Criteria For STBCs With Reduced Complexity ML Decoding
The design of linear STBCs offering a low-complexity ML decoding using the well known Sphere Decoder (SD) has been extensively studied in last years. The first considered approach to derive design criteria for the construction of such codes is based on the Hurwitz-Radon (HR) Theory for mutual orthogonality between the weight matrices defining the linear code. This appproach served to construct ...
متن کاملApplication of the Method of Hurwitz-Radon Matrices in Data Reconstruction
Applied science and mechanics need mathematical methods for 2D processes modeling using the set of data points. A novel method of Hurwitz-Radon Matrices (MHR) is used in 2D curve modeling. Proposed method is based on the family of Hurwitz-Radon matrices which possess columns composed of orthogonal vectors. Two-dimensional process is modeled via different functions: sine, cosine, tangent, logari...
متن کاملApplication of Hurwitz – Radon Matrices in Shape Representation
Computer vision needs suitable methods of shape representation and contour reconstruction. One of them, invented by the author and called method of Hurwitz-Radon Matrices (MHR), can be used in representation and reconstruction of shapes of the objects in the plane. Proposed method is based on a family of Hurwitz-Radon (HR) matrices. The matrices are skew-symmetric and possess columns composed o...
