Genetics of horse acidic prealbumins.
نویسنده
چکیده
HE term “prealbumin” was originally applied by SMITHIES (1955) to those zones of protein which migrate ahead of albumin in alkaline starch gel. Using acidic starch gel, BRAEND and EFREMOV (1965) and GAHNE (1966) detected numerous protein zones in horse serum that migrated ahead of albumin. Also, FAGERHOL and BRAEND (1965) demonstrated a multiplicity of prealbumin zones in human serum. GAHNE (1966) showed that the most anodal series of equine prealbumin zones belong to one genetic system, designated Pr, controlled by four codominant autosomal alleles. BRAEND (1967 a,b) described what appeared to be four additional systems of acidic prealbumins of horses and tentatively named them Xc, Xd, Xh and Xk, in decreasing order of mobility. The purpose of the present report is to describe a technique which permits good resolution of the prealbumin zones of horse serum, to present evidence for additional alleles at the Pr locus, and to present evidence on the genetic control of phenotypes in the Xk system.

Studies on the inheritance of electrophoretic forms of transferrins, albumins, prealbumins and plasma esterases of horses.
B Y means of starch gel electrophoresis BRBND and STORMONT (1964) demonstrated 16 different transferrin phenotypes in horses. Family data supported the theory that the observed differences were attributed to the action of six COdominant autosomal alleles designated TfD, TfF, Tf", TfM, Tfo and Tf". The theory of six alleles have been verified by BRBND (1964) and GRSTZER, HESSELIIOLT, MOUSTGAARD ...
متن کاملCloning and expression of Iranian Turkmen-thoroughbred horse follicle stimulating hormone in Pichia pastoris
Background: Follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) plays an essential role in reproductive physiology and follicular development. Objective: A new variant of the equine fsh (efsh) gene was cloned, sequenced, and expressed in Pichia pastoris (P. pastoris) GS115 yeast expression system. Materials and Methods: The full-length cDNAs of the efshα and efshβ chains were amplified by reverse transcriptio...
متن کاملGenetic diversity in German draught horse breeds compared with a group of primitive, riding and wild horses by means of microsatellite DNA markers.
We compared the genetic diversity and distance among six German draught horse breeds to wild (Przewalski's Horse), primitive (Icelandic Horse, Sorraia Horse, Exmoor Pony) or riding horse breeds (Hanoverian Warmblood, Arabian) by means of genotypic information from 30 microsatellite loci. The draught horse breeds included the South German Coldblood, Rhenish German Draught Horse, Mecklenburg Cold...
متن کاملGenetic relationship between the Nordestino horse and national and international horse breeds.
Knowledge of genetic diversity and relationships between breeds is very important for conservation programs. Hair samples were collected from 393 individual Nordestino horses and genotyped using 14 microsatellite markers in order to investigate the genetic relationship between this breed and 66 international horse breeds. There was high allelic diversity and inbreeding coefficient within popula...
متن کاملGenetic analysis of the Venezuelan Criollo horse.
Various horse populations in the Americas have an origin in Spain; they are remnants of the first livestock introduced to the continent early in the colonial period (16th and 17th centuries). We evaluated genetic variability within the Venezuelan Criollo horse and its relationship with other horse breeds. We observed high levels of genetic diversity within the Criollo breed. Significant p...
