Efficient Input Signal Design for Third-order Volterra Model Identification

چکیده
The present work addresses the identification of third-order Volterra models from input-output process data. Building on previous studies regarding input sequence design for third-order Volterra models (Soni and Parker, 2004), a new reduced-length sequence is designed to identify third-order sub-diagonal kernels. This input sequence leads to a 30% reduction in the data required to accurately estimate the sub-diagonal kernel. Identification of second-and third-order off-diagonal kernels is carried out using a random binary sequence (RBS). These input sequences exploit the third-order Volterra model structure and use the prediction error variance expression as a measure of model fidelity. The utility of the proposed approach is demonstrated on an isothermal polymerization reactor case study. The reduced length sequence shows excellent performance and results in an 47% improvement in the sum-squared error (SSE) value of the third-order sub-diagonal kernel. Copyright ©2005 IFAC

Second-Order Volterra System Identification With Noisy Input-Output Measurements
System identification with noisy input–output measurements has been dominantly addressed through the optimization of the mean-squared-error criterion (MSE), especially in adaptive filtering. MSE is known to provide models that approximate the conditional expectation of the target output given the input; however, when the input signal is also contaminated by noise—a frequent occurrence—MSE yield...

The input autocorrelation matrix for a third order (cubic) Volterra adaptive filter for general colored Gaussian input processes is analyzed to determine how to best formulate a computationally efftcient fast adaptive algorithm. When the input signal samples are ordered properly within the input data vector, the autocorrelation matrix of the cubic filter inherits a block diagonal structure, wit...

A novel algorithm is developed based on fractional signal processing approach for parameter estimation of input nonlinear control autoregressive (INCAR) models. The design scheme consists of parameterization of INCAR systems to obtain linear-in-parameter models and to use fractional least mean square algorithm (FLMS) for adaptation of unknown parameter vectors. The performance analyses of the p...
متن کاملA Nonlinear Data–driven Approach to Type I Diabetic Patient Modeling
Glucose–insulin interactions in the Type I diabetic patient are approximated in an input–output sense using a third–order Volterra series model. Due to the large number of unique coefficients present in a third–order model, efficient parameter identification methods are developed. Several pruned model structures were examined, and maximum dynamic accuracy was obtained when a linear plus nonline...
