چکیده

Spectroscopic properties of nuclei are accessible with projectile fragmentation reactions, but approximations made in the reaction theory can limit the accuracy of the determinations. We examine here two models that have rather different approximations for the nucleon wave function, the target interaction, and the treatment of the finite duration of the reaction. The nucleon-target interaction is treated differently in the eikonal and the transfer-to-continuum model, but the differences are more significant for light targets. We propose a new parameterization with that in mind. We also propose a new formula to calculate the amplitude that combines the better treatment of the wave function in the eikonal model with the better treatment of the target interaction in the transfer-tocontinuum model.

Stress Transfer Modeling in CNT Reinforced Composites using Continuum Mechanics (TECHNICAL NOTE)

Because of the substantial difference in stiffness between matrix and nanotube in CNT composite, the stress transfer between them controls their mechanical properties. This paper investigates the said issue, analytically and numerically, in axial load using representative volume element (RVE). The analytical model was established based on the modified Cox’s shear lag model with the use of some ...

Beyond the eikonal model for few-body systems

A physical prescription to improve the accuracy of few-body Glauber model calculations of reactions involving loosely bound projectiles is presented in which the eikonal phase shift function of each projectile constituent is modified to account for curvature of its trajectory. Noneikonal effects due to both nuclear and Coulomb interactions are treated on an equal footing. The proposed method is...

Multiple-Scattering Model for Inclusive Proton Production in Heavy Ion Collisions

A formalism is developed for evaluating the momentum distribution for proton production in nuclear abrasion during heavy ion collisions using the Glauber multiple-scattering series. Several models for the onebody density matrix of nuclei are considered for performing numerical calculations. Calculations for the momentum distribution of protons in abrasion are compared with experimental data for...

Complex nuclear-structure phenomena revealed from the nuclide production in fragmentation reactions

Complex structural effects in the nuclide production from the projectile fragmentation of 1 A GeV U nuclei in a titanium target are reported. The structure seems to be insensitive to the excitation energy induced in the reaction. This is in contrast to the prominent structural features found in nuclear fission and in transfer reactions, which gradually disappear with increasing excitation energ...

Single ionization of He by low-velocity protons and C6+: Ejected electron momentum distributions.

A technique for electron spectroscopy which yields full two-dimensional momentum distributions for continuum electrons has been used to study ejected electrons from single ionization of He by C and proton projectiles at low velocities. Projectile velocities of 1.63, 1.38, and 1.16 a.u. for C and 2.39, 1.71, 1.15, .85, and 0.63 a.u. for protons were used. All spectra show much broader distributi...
