A Theory of Generalised Population Processes
نویسنده
چکیده
A THEORY OF GENERALISED POPULATION PROCESSES Ricky Der Advisors: Charles Epstein and Joshua Plotkin A systematic study of population processes subsuming the Wright-Fisher model in classical population genetics is undertaken. Discrete and continuum methods are developed for the analysis of these generalised processes, which in many respects can exhibit strikingly different dynamics than the canonical model. Genetic features which are stable across the entire class are also identified, and lead to new understandings of the original model.

متن کاملHow Do We Evaluate Health in All Policies?; Comment on “Developing a Framework for a Program Theory-Based Approach to Evaluating Policy Processes and Outcomes: Health in All Policies in South Australia”
It is well-established that population health is influenced by a multitude of factors, many of which lie outside the scope of the health sector. In the public health literature it is often assumed that intersectoral engagement with nonhealth sectors will be instrumental in addressing these social determinants of health. Due to the expected desirable outcomes in population health, several countr...
متن کاملUnifying Theories of Timed with Generalised Reactive Processes
Hoare and He’s theory of reactive processes provides a unifying foundation for the formal semantics of concurrent and reactive languages. Though highly applicable, their theory is limited to models that can express event histories as discrete sequences. In this paper, we show how their theory can be generalised by using an abstract trace algebra. We show how the algebra, notably, allows us to a...
متن کاملNon-Markovian stochastic epidemics in extremely heterogeneous populations
A feature often observed in epidemiological networks is significant heterogeneity in degree. A popular modelling approach to this has been to consider large populations with highly heterogeneous discrete contact rates. This paper defines an individual-level non-Markovian stochastic process that converges on standard ODE models of such populations in the appropriate asymptotic limit. A generalis...
متن کاملadapt Bandura’s theory of visual learning processes in the Quran
The present study seeks to adapt Bandura’s theory of visual learning processes in the Quran. This theory is one of the most important theories in educational psychology. The main thrust of the present study, is, thus, to adapt visual learning processes in the Quran. More specifically, an attempt is made to determine which Quranic verses and conceptions correspond to the four visual learning pro...
