Spin glass transition in a magnetic field: a renormalization group study

چکیده
Abstract We study the transition of short range Ising spin glasses in a magnetic field, within a general replica symmetric field theory, which contains three masses and eight cubic couplings, that is defined in terms of the fields representing the replicon, anomalous and longitudinal modes. We discuss the symmetry of the theory in the limit of replica number n → 0, and consider the regular case where the longitudinal and anomalous masses remain degenerate. The spin glass transitions in zero and non-zero field are analyzed in a common framework. The mean field treatment shows the usual results, that is a transition in zero field, where all the modes become critical, and a transition in nonzero field, at the de Almeida-Thouless (AT) line, with only the replicon mode critical. Renormalization group methods are used to study the critical behavior, to order ε = 6 − d. In the general theory we find a stable fixed-point associated to the spin glass transition in zero field. This fixed-point becomes unstable in the presence of a small magnetic field, and we calculate crossover exponents, which we relate to zero-field critical exponents. In a finite magnetic field, we find no physical stable fixed-point to describe the AT transition, in agreement with previous results of other authors.

Magnetic Properties in a Spin-1 Random Transverse Ising Model on Square Lattice
In this paper we investigate the effect of a random transverse field, distributed according to a trimodal distribution, on the phase diagram and magnetic properties of a two-dimensional lattice (square with z=4), ferromagnetic Ising system consisting of magnetic atoms with spin-1. This study is done using the effectivefield theory (EFT) with correlations method. The equations are derived using...

In the first part of this thesis, the properties of physical systems in the presence of quenched disorder are studied. The phase diagrams and the statistical mechanics of classical Ising systems that go undergo phase transitions are obtained for the case of a random external field and a random exchange (spin-glass) interaction between spins. Uniting phase diagrams, for the general case of a sys...
متن کاملComment on "Spin-glass attractor on tridimensional hierarchical lattices in the presence of an external magnetic field".
The effect of random or uniform magnetic fields on spin glasses on some d=3 hierarchical lattices has been studied, using renormalization-group theory, by Salmon and Nobre. In this work, the recursion relation for the local magnetic field is incorrect. It erroneously weakens the amplitude of the renormalization contribution to the magnetic field by a factor of 1/qmicro, where qmicro is the site...

We have investigated a phase transition of a long-range RKKY Ising spin glass DyxY1−xRu2Si2 by means of the dc and the ac magnetization measurements. The static nonlinear susceptibility χ2 exhibits a divergent behavior toward Tg = 1.925 K with the exponent of γ = 1.08. The characteristic relaxation time τ obtained from the ac magnetization measurements also diverges to the same Tg with the expo...
متن کاملCritical behaviour of a spin-tube model in a magnetic field
We show that the low-energy physics of the spin-tube model in presence of a critical magnetic field can be described by a broken SU(3) spin chain. Using the Lieb-Schultz-Mattis Theorem we characterize the possible magnetization plateaus and study the critical behavior in the region of transition between the plateaus 〈Sz〉 = 1/2 and 〈Sz〉 = 3/2 by means of renormalization group calculations perfor...
