A Reliable Multicast Protocol with Delay Guarantees
نویسنده
چکیده
The reliable multicast protocol guarantees that all receivers place the source messages in the same order. We hav e changed this protocol from an event driven protocol to a timed protocol in order to also guarantee that all of the receivers have the message by a dead line. In this work we present two modifications to the timed protocol that provide shorter deadlines. In the examples that we consider the tighter deadlines approach the nominal network delay.

Reliable Multicast Mac Protocol for Spatial Reuse Efficiency Assisted by Multicarrier Ds-cdma in Wlan Systems
We propose a reliable multicast MAC protocol based on the multicarrier direct-sequence code-division multiple access (MC DS-CDMA) scheme to enhance spatial reuse efficiency in wireless local area networks (WLANs). Conventional multicast MAC protocols using RTS-CTS handshake exchange CTS and ACK packets consecutively for reliable transmission. Although this protocol guarantees transmission relia...

There are many methods for making a multicast protocol "reliable". At one end of the spectrum, a reliable multicast protocol might offer atomicity guarantees, such as all-ornothing delivery, delivery ordering, and perhaps additional properties such as virtually synchronous addressing. At the other are protocols that use local repair to overcome transient packet loss in the network, offering “be...
متن کاملReliable Multicasting in the Internet: Experience with the IRMA Architecture
In this paper, we present our experience with the IRMA reliable multicast architecture. IRMA guarantees reliable, sequenced, and loosely synchronized delivery of multicast streams by supporting TCP as the multicast transport protocol at the end hosts without modifications to the standard TCP/IP stack. To support TCP as the multicast transport protocol, IRMA provides ACK aggregation, local recov...
متن کاملReliable Multicast in Heterogeneous Mobile Ad-hoc Networks
In disaster scenarios, communication infrastructure could be damaged or completely failed. Mobile Ad-hoc Networks (MANETs) can be used to substitute failed communication devices and thus to enable communication. As group communication is an important part in disaster scenarios, multicast will be used to address several nodes. In this paper, we propose our new reliable multicast protocol RMDA (R...
متن کاملMulticast Tree Construction with QoS Guaranties
Multimedia applications, such as videoconferences, require an efficient management of the Quality of Service (QoS) and consist of a great number of participants which requires the use of multicast routing protocol. Unlike unicast protocol, multicast protocol handles a great number of users while minimizing both network overhead and bandwidth consumption. However, combining multicast routing and...
