چکیده

Single sensor with Bayer pattern color filters are used to reduce size and cost of consumer digital cameras. These cameras use various demosaicing algorithms to construct the entire image with true colors from the acquired insufficient RGB (Red,Green and Blue) mosaics. In order to estimate original true colors, iterative demosaicing algorithms are being employed. These algorithms incur high cost in computing and process all the pixels irrespective of the content of the image. The computation expense of algorithm and the quality of image are directly proportional. However, it has been observed that for homogeneous region, the simple (non-iterative) and complicated (iterative) demosaicing algorithms yield result in same image quality. In this paper, homogeneous and heterogeneous regions of images are identified using neighboring color dependency matrices namely NRDM (Neighboring Red Dependency Matrix), NBDM (Neighboring Blue Dependency Matrix) and NGrDM (Neighboring Green Dependency Matrix). The color distribution of homogeneous, heterogeneous regions is evaluated from these dependency matrices and used to identify the type of selected region. The identified region type is considered for determining a demosaicing algorithm having less computation provides the same image quality. The simple, non-iterative demosaicing algorithms are employed in homogeneous regions and iterative algorithms are used in heterogeneous regions. The image quality metrics Mean Square Error (MSE) is used to evaluate the proposed adaptive method with the existing iterative algorithms. The reduction in MSE values shows the effectiveness of the proposed adaptive approach. KeywordsDemosaicing, Color Dependency Matrix, Homogeneous & Heterogeneous regions

Bayer and panchromatic color filter array demosaicing by sparse recovery

The utility of Compressed Sensing (CS) for demosaicing of digital images have been explored by few recent efforts [1][2][3]. Most recently, a Compressive Demosaicing [3] framework, based on employing a random panchromatic Color Filter Array (CFA) at the sensing stage, has provided compelling CS-based demosaicing results by visually outperforming other leading techniques. Meanwhile, it is well k...

A Low Complexity Color Demosaicing Algorithm Based on Integrated Gradient

Color demosaicing is critical to digital cameras as it converts a Bayer sensor mosaic output to a full color image, which determines the output image quality of the camera. In this paper, an efficient decision-based demosaicing method is presented. This method exploits a new edge-sensing measure called integrated gradient (IG) to effectively extract gradient information in both color intensity ...

Superresolution with the focused plenoptic camera

Digital images from a CCD or CMOS sensor with a color filter array must undergo a demosaicing process to combine the separate color samples into a single color image. This interpolation process can interfere with the subsequent superresolution process. Plenoptic superresolution, which relies on precise sub-pixel sampling across captured microimages, is particularly sensitive to such resampling ...

Demosaicing low resolution QVGA bayer pattern

In this paper, we present a solution for the interpolation of low resolution digital images. Many digital cameras can function in two resolution modes: VGA (i.e., 640×480) and QVGA (i.e., 320×240). These cameras use a single sensor covered with a Color Filter Array (CFA). The CFA allows only one color component to be measured at each pixel, the remaining color components must be interpolated, t...
