Delayed perfect monitoring in repeated games
نویسنده
چکیده
Delayed perfect monitoring in an in nitely repeated discounted game is studied. A player perfectly observes any other players action choice with a xed, but nite delay. The observational delays between di¤erent pairs of players are heterogeneous and asymmetric. The Folk Theorem extends to this setup, although for a range of discount factors strictly below 1, the set of belief-free equilibria is reduced under certain conditions. This model applies to any situation in which there is a heterogeneous delay between information generation and the playersreaction to it. JEL classi cation numbers: C72, C73

Informational Smallness and Private Monitoring in Repeated Games
We consider repeated games with private monitoring that are close to repeated games with public/perfect monitoring. A private monitoring information structure is close to a public monitoring information structure when private signals can generate approximately the same distribution of the public signal once they are aggregated into a public signal by some public coordination device. A player...
متن کاملPerfect Versus Imperfect Monitoring in Repeated Games
We show that perfect monitoring is not necessarily the optimal monitoring technology in repeated games, unless players are both patient and have access to a mediator who can condition her recommendations on the entire history of actions and recommendations. This claim follows from three results. First, players can be better o¤ with unmediated imperfect (public or private) monitoring than with m...
متن کاملDelayed-response strategies in repeated games with observation lags
We extend the folk theorem of repeated games to two settings in which players’ information about others’ play arrives with stochastic lags. In our first model, signals are almost-perfect if and when they do arrive, that is, each player either observes an almost-perfect signal of period-t play with some lag or else never sees a signal of period-t play. The second model has the same lag structure...
متن کاملThe Folk Theorem for all Games with Almost Perfect Monitoring
We study repeated games with private monitoring. We prove the folk theorem with discounting for all games assuming that the monitoring is almost perfect and the payoffs satisfy the full-dimensionality condition. We assume no cheap-talk communication between players, no public randomization, and we allow for minmax payoffs in mixed strategies.
متن کاملRepeated Games III: Imperfect Private Monitoring
In the last couple of classes, we looked at repeated games with imperfect public monitoring, and studied perfect public equilibria of these games. These equilibria had a very nice recursive structure. But what happens if the outcome in each period is not commonly observed? In this case, we have a repeated game with imperfect private monitoring. Relatively little is known about the structure of ...
