چکیده
Ž . We have observed laser-jitter-enhanced high-resolution spectra of three hyperfine states in the ground level H of 4 Pr :Y SiO using coherent population trapping and phase-correlated four-wave mixing. We have also observed optical 2 5 Raman pulse excited two-photon spectral hole-burning. The observed high-resolution spectra are due to a laser-jitter-suppressed Raman coherence window in an inhomogeneously broadened solid system, and the observed two-photon spectral Ž Ž . . hole-burning has potential to increase data capacity in Raman excited optical memory Opt. Hole-burning techniques for isolation and study of individual hyperfine transitions in inhomogeneously broadened solids demonstrated in Pr:Y2SiO5
Due to their narrow homogeneous linewidths, rare-earth ions in inorganic crystals at low temperatures have recently been given considerable attention as test materials for experiments in coherent quantum optics. Because these narrow linewidth transitions have been buried in a wide inhomogeneous line, the scope of experiments that could be carried out in these materials has been limited. However...
متن کاملThe Impact of the Spectral Filter Bandwidth on the Spectral Entanglement and Indistinguishability of Photon Pairs of SPDC Process
In this paper, we have investigated the dependence of the spectral entanglement and indistinguishability of photon pairs produced by the spontaneous parametric down-conversion (SPDC) procedure on the bandwidth of spectral filters used in the detection setup. The SPDC is a three-wave mixing process which occurs in a nonlinear crystal and generates entangled photon pairs and utilizes as one of th...
متن کاملUltrasharp nonlinear photothermal and photoacoustic resonances and holes beyond the spectral limit
High-resolution nonlinear laser spectroscopy based on absorption saturation, Lamb-dip and spectral hole-burning phenomena have contributed much to basic and applied photonics. Here, a laser spectroscopy based on nonlinear photothermal and photoacoustic phenomena is presented. It shows ultrasharp resonances and dips up to a few nanometres wide in broad plasmonic spectra of nanoparticles. It also...
متن کاملTwo-photon Fourier spectroscopy with femtosecond light pulses.
We demonstrate a Fourier spectrometer that uses intense ultrashort laser pulses. By exciting the 6S(1/2) - 8S(1/2) two-photon transition in atomic cesium vapor, we are able to measure the small hyperfine splitting of the 8S(1/2) excited state. This technique, combining a high spectral resolution with the high peak intensities available to femtosecond laser systems, may offer intriguing opportun...
متن کاملSpectroscopy , persistent hole burning , and holographic applications of naphtophthalocyanine / haloanthracene systems
We report on the spectroscopic and hole burning properties of free-base naphtophthalocyanine with and without 1chloranthracene in polymer host. These materials exhibit a strong 0–0 absorption band in the region 800 nm matching the wavelength range of most semiconductor and Ti:Sapphire lasers. The materials studied feature two persistent hole burning photochemical mechanisms, i.e. one-photon pro...
