چکیده
A new algorithm is presented for the detection and segmentation of multiple periodic motions in image sequences A periodicity measure which provides an accurate quantitative measure of sig nal periodicity in the form of temporal harmonic energy ratio is proposed The periodicity tem plates which incorporate the segmented region with the associated periodicity energy distribu tion and motion fundamental frequencies provide a new means of periodic motion representation The algorithm is computationally simple and ro bust in the presence of noise Real world exam ples are used to illustrate the techniques

The Periodic Moving Average Filter for Removing Motion Artifacts from PPG Signals
Abstract: The measurement accuracy for heart rate or SpO2 using photoplethysmography (PPG) is influenced by how well the noise from motion artifacts and other sources can be removed. Eliminating the motion artifacts is particularly difficult since its frequency band overlaps that of the basic PPG signal. Therefore, we propose the Periodic Moving Average Filter (PMAF) to remove motion artifacts....
متن کاملTracking human motion in an indoor environment
This paper presents an approach to tracking human motion in a sequence of monocular images. The process consists of detecting motion, segmenting moving subjects by recovering the background and, nally, tracking the subject of interest. The usual assumptions of small image motion, a xed viewing system and constant velocity are systematically relaxed. Two cases are studied: 1) a viewing system wi...
متن کاملHuman action segmentation and recognition via motion and shape analysis
In this paper, we present an automated video analysis system which addresses segmentation and detection of human actions in an indoor environment, such as a gym. The system aims at segmenting different movements from the input video and recognizing the action types simultaneously. Two action segmentation techniques, namely color intensity based and motion based, are proposed. Both methods can e...
متن کاملRobust Periodic Motion and Motion Symmetry Detection
We describe a robust technique for detecting nonstationary periodic motion from a moving and static camera. We also describe a robust technique for discriminating motion symmetries (periodic motion classification), which we apply to classifying running humans (bipeds) and canines (quadrupeds). The system has been implemented to run in real-time (30 Hz) on standard PC workstations.
متن کاملA ne Invariant Detection of Periodic Motion
Current approaches for detecting periodic motion assume a stationary camera and place limits on an object's motion. These approaches rely on the assumption that a periodic motion projects to a set of periodic image curves, an assumption that fails in general. Using a ne-invariance, we derive necessary and sufcient conditions for an image sequence to be the projection of a periodic motion. No re...
