Progesterone/estradiol Ratio in the Late Follicular Phase of Long Gonadotropin-releasing Hormone Agonist Cycles Did Not Differ between Conceived and Not-conceived Women

چکیده
There is a challenging debate on the effect of premature luteinization on the clinical outcome of ‘controlled ovarian hyperstimulation’ (COH) using long ‘gonadotropin–releasing hormone agonist’ (GnRHa) cycles. Premature luteinization is defined as late follicular progesterone/estradiol ratio more than 1 on the day of human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG) administration. We carried out a retrospective case–control study on 75 conceived cases versus 75 not–conceived control women, receiving long GnRHa cycles in their first cycle of treatment. Premature luteinization developed in 15% of the case group vs. 22% of the control group. Neither the late follicular progesterone/estradiol (P/E2) ratio was significantly different between the two groups, nor the day 3 follicle stimulating hormone (FSH), serum estradiol level on the HCG day, total amount of human menopausal gonadotropins ampoules, number of follicles, retrieved oocytes and transferred embryos. Endometrial thickness was significantly more in the pregnant women than in the non–pregnant group. Premature luteinization seems not to adversely affect the clinical outcome of COH. © 20078 Tehran University of Medical Sciences. All rights reserved. Acta Medica Iranica, 46(1): 71-78; 2008

Objective The objective of this study is to compare rates of pregnancy and IVF parameters in subjects who were stimulated with follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) plus either recombinant human luteinizing hormone (r-LH) or human menopausal gonadotropins (hMG), in long gonadotropin releasing hormone (GnRH) agonist IVF protocols. MaterialsAndMethods This is a cohort study of patients undergoing IV...
متن کاملComparison of pregnancy outcomes of frozen embryo transfers in women undergoing artificial endometrial preparation with and without short and long-acting gonadotropin releasing hormone agonists
Background & aim: There are conflicting results regarding the benefit of gonadotropin releasing hormone (GnRH) agonist treatment on frozen embryo transfer (FET) outcome. No study was found to compare pregnancy outcome between patients undergoing short and long acting types of GnRH agonist for FET cycles. This study aimed to assess the effectiveness of short and long ac...
متن کاملProgesterone has rapid positive feedback actions on LH release but fails to reduce LH pulse frequency within 12 h in estradiol‐pretreated women
In women, progesterone suppresses luteinizing hormone (LH) (gonadotropin-releasing hormone) pulse frequency, but how rapidly this occurs is unknown. In estradiol-pretreated women in the late follicular phase, progesterone administration at 1800 did not slow sleep-associated LH pulse frequency. However, mechanisms controlling LH pulse frequency may differ according to sleep status; and we thus h...
متن کاملPrediction of assisted reproductive technique outcome in elevated early follicular phase follicle stimulating hormone with Mullerian inhibiting substance level
BACKGROUND Detection of best predictor of ovarian reserve in patients with temporarily or consistently elevated early follicular phase serum levels of FSH is one of the most important goals in assisted reproductive technique (ART). OBJECTIVE To evaluate whether high level of anti-mullerian hormone level is related to success of ART in patients with temporarily or consistently elevated early f...

The purpose of this study was to determine whether the changes of sex hormone-binding globulin (SHBG) affect the pregnancy outcome in women undergoing controlled ovarian hyperstimulation (COH) for assisted reproduction. Forty-five infertile women who were undergoing pituitary desensitization and COH for in vitro fertilization (IVF) with or without intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) and 19 ...
