Integration of Wireless Lan and 3 G Wireless

چکیده
Third-generation cellular systems will provide wide coverage and nearly universal roaming, but will not realistically live up to the bit rate expectations placed on them. On the other hand, WLAN systems already offer bit rates surpassing those of 3G systems, but are often found lacking with respect to roaming and mobility support. In short, WLAN systems are great for hot spot coverage, while 3G systems provide global coverage and the necessary network and management infrastructure to cater for security, roaming, and charging requirements. The focus of this article is on security aspects of 3GPP-WLAN interworking. Security Aspects of 3G-WLAN Interworking

An architecture for wireless LAN/WAN integration
To allow a seamless integration between wireless LANs and Wireless WANs, we developed a full stack adaptation model and a simple subnet architecture that superimposes Mobile-IP on cellular-type wireless LANs. The idea is to use Mobile IP as an integrative layer atop different LAN/WAN networks. While Mobile-IP is widely used in wireless WANs, it is not known how well it performs under a wireless...

The General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) is widely deployed in second and third generation mobile cellular networks. Special benefits of GPRS are mobility management as well as support of authentication, authorization, and accounting (AAA). However, the data rates of GPRS are low and the price is high, compared to wired networks or Wireless LAN. Furthermore, Wireless LAN hotspots are starting to...

This paper concerns sub-channel allocation in multi-user wireless networks with a view to increasing the network throughput. It is assumed there are some sub-channels to be equally divided among active links, such that the total sum rate increases, where it is assumed each link is subject to a maximum transmit power constraint. This problem is found to be a non-convex optimization problem and i...

متن کاملHYREP: A Hybrid Low-Power Protocol for Wireless Sensor Networks
In this paper, a new hybrid routing protocol is presented for low power Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs). The new system uses an integrated piezoelectric energy harvester to increase the network lifetime. Power dissipation is one of the most important factors affecting lifetime of a WSN. An innovative cluster head selection technique using Cuckoo optimization algorithm has been used in the desig...
