چکیده

First-principles calculations of transmission and reflection from Ag/Fe, Au/Fe, Cu/Co, and Cu/Ni interfaces show very strong spin dependence that differs significantly from expectations based on free electron approximations. The results can be used to understand both the giant magnetoresistance and the oscillatory exchange coupling observed in magnetic multilayers of these materials. The spin dependence of the reflection probabilities is strong enough to give a large giant magnetoresistance even if there is no spin dependent defect scattering. The calculated reflection amplitudes determine the strength of the oscillatory exchange coupling. 75.50.Rr,73.40.Jn,73.20.Dx Typeset using REVTEX

Magnetic Properties and Structural Study of Ni-Co/Cu Multilayers Prepared by Electrodeposition Method

Ni-Co/Cu multilayers have been grown by electrodeposition method from a single electrolyte (based on Ni(SO4).6H2O, Co(SO4).7H2O, Cu(SO4) and H3BO3) using galvanostatic control on titanium sublayers. The X-ray diffraction (XRD) patterns confirmed the multilayered structure with the nanometer thicknesses. Also, electron diffraction x-ray (EDX)  analysis confirmed the purity of deposited samples. ...

Two Problems in Spin-dependent Transport in Metallic Magnetic Multilayers

Transport properties of magnetic multilayers in current perpendicular to the plane of the layers geometry are defined by diffusive scattering in the bulk of the layers, and diffusive and ballistic scattering across the interfaces. Due to the short screening length in metals, layer by layer treatment of the multilayers is possible, when the macroscopic transport equation (Boltzmann equation or d...

Spin dependent hot electron transport and nanoscale imaging of metal/silicon structures In this work, we experimentally study spin-dependent hot electron transport through metallic multilayers (ML), containing single magnetic layers or “spin-valve” (SV) trilayers. For this purpose, we have set up a ballistic electron emission microscope (BEEM), a three terminal extension of scanning tunnelling ...

Reflection and Transmission of Longitudinal Wave at Micropolar Viscoelastic Solid/Fluid Saturated Incompressible Porous Solid Interface

In this paper, the reflection and refraction of longitudinal wave from a plane surface separating a micropolar viscoelastic solid half space and a fluid saturated incompressible half space is studied. A longitudinal wave (P-wave) impinges obliquely at the interface. Amplitude ratios for various reflected and transmitted waves have been obtained. Then these amplitude ratios have been computed nu...

In this study, we investigated the spin dependent electronic transport of a fishbone-like nanostructure including two magnetic atoms at its ends. The electronic conductance of this nanostructure for three different orientations of atomic magnetic moments was numerically studied when the structure was sandwiched between two nonmagnetic leads. By using Green’s function technique at the tight-bind...
