Approximate Analysis of Real-Time Database Systems

چکیده
During the past few years, several studies have been made on the performance of real-time database systems with respect to the number of transactions that miss their deadlines. These studies have used either simulation models or database testbeds as their performance evaluation tools. We present here a preliminary analytical performance study of real-time transaction processing. Using a series of approximations, we derive simple closed-form solutions to reduced realtime database models. Although quantitatively approximate, the solutions accurately capture system sensitivity to workload parameters and indicate conditions under which performance bounds are achieved. 1 I n t r o d u c t i o n In a broad sense, a real-time database system (RTDBS) is a transaction processing system that is designed to handle workloads where transactions have service deadlines. The objective of the system is to meet these deadlines, that is, to process transactions before their deadlines expire. Therefore, in contrast to a conventional DBMS where the goal usually is to minimize transaction response times, the emphasis here is on satisfying the timing constraints of transactions. Transactions may miss their deadlines in a realt ime database system due to contention for physical resources (CPUs, disks, memory) and logical resources (data). During the last few years, several detailed studies [1, 3, 5] have evaluated the performance of various real-time transaction resource scheduling policies with respect to the number of missed transaction deadlines. These studies have either used simulation models [1, 3] or used database testbeds [5] as their performance evaluation tools. Satisfying temporal consistency constraints of real-time databases
In addition to timing constraints, a real-time database has temporal consistency constraints for its temporal data. The temporal consistency constraints require the data to represent a state of the real-world that is up-to-date and also require data to represent past states of the real-world with values that are close in time. Factors, such as concurrency control, can cause transactions to miss...
متن کاملThe Investigation of Main Determinants of Real Time Performance based Budgeting in Iran
The main aim of this paper is to investigate the indicators affecting the establishment of a real time performance-based budgeting system in Iran. Given that the results of this study can be used in the development of budget rules and regulations based on public sector performance, it is practical research. To achieve this purpose, a questionnaire consisting of 28 questions was designed by rese...

n this paper we study the Hyers-Ulam-Rassias stability of Cauchyequation in Felbin's type fuzzy normed linear spaces. As a resultwe give an example of a fuzzy normed linear space such that thefuzzy version of the stability problem remains true, while it failsto be correct in classical analysis. This shows how the category offuzzy normed linear spaces differs from the classical normed linearspac...
متن کاملAnalysis of Concurrency Control Protocols for Real-Time Database Systems
This paper provides an approximate analytic solution method for evaluating the performance of concurrency control protocols developed for real-time database systems (RTDBSs). Transactions processed in a RTDBS are associated with timing constraints typically in the form of deadlines. The primary consideration in developing a RTDBS concurrency control protocol is the fact that satisfaction of the...

In this paper, the design of a distributed adaptive controller for a class of unknown non-affine MIMO strict-feedback multi agent systems with time delay has been performed under a directed graph. The controller design is based on dynamic surface control method. In the design process, radial basis function neural networks (RBFNNs) were employed to approximate the unknown nonlinear functions. S...
