0027. Kinetic of muscle mass regulation during experimental sepsis
نویسندگان
چکیده
Introduction Sepsis induced muscle weakness (SIMW) is associated with an important morbidity of critical care patients. Moreover, respiratory muscles weakness delays weaning from mechanical ventilation. The down-regulation of Akt pathway and the activation of proteolytic pathways, such as ubiquitin-proteasome or autophagy-lysosome pathways, could play a key role in the pathogenesis of SIMW. However, the kinetic response of these pathways is currently unknown.

Sepsis-induced regulation of lipoprotein lipase expression in rat adipose tissue and soleus muscle.
Hypertriglyceridemia of sepsis is associated with suppressed tissue lipoprotein lipase (LPL) activities. We investigated the effect of sepsis on lipoprotein lipase gene expression in epididymal fat and soleus muscle from control and septic rats in the fasted and fed state. After 24 h of sepsis, LPL activity decreased significantly in epididymal fat from fasted rats by 45% along with a 57% reduc...

The objective of the study was to evaluate chemical composition, in vitro dry matter digestibility (IVDMD), and growth performance of weanling Boer-goats supplemented with cowpea seed hulls (CSH) and commercial concentrate / feed (CF) with natural pasture as basal diet. Weanling Boer-goats (n=36) were assigned to 3 treatments comprising of 4 animals each (2 bucklings and 2 females) replicated t...
متن کاملPPARβ/δ Regulates Glucocorticoid- and Sepsis-Induced FOXO1 Activation and Muscle Wasting
FOXO1 is involved in glucocorticoid- and sepsis-induced muscle wasting, in part reflecting regulation of atrogin-1 and MuRF1. Mechanisms influencing FOXO1 expression in muscle wasting are poorly understood. We hypothesized that the transcription factor peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor β/δ (PPARβ/δ) upregulates muscle FOXO1 expression and activity with a downstream upregulation of atro...
متن کاملThe relationship between maximum jumping performance and hind limb morphology/physiology in domestic cats (Felis silvestris catus).
A critical role of functional morphology is to demonstrate form-function relationships that can then be used by evolutionary biologists to infer the evolutionary history of the structure in question. Tests of theoretical expectations about the effects of many aspects of morphology/physiology on locomotor performance have had very mixed results. If systems such as jumping can be shown to reliabl...
متن کاملMuscle protein metabolism during sepsis
Introduction One of the most pronounced metabolic changes after injury, sepsis and other critical illness is increased urinary excretion of nitrogen, resulting in negative nitrogen balance. There is evidence that skeletal muscle is the major source of nitrogen in these conditions. Muscle catabolism during sepsis is mainly caused by increased protein degradation, in particular myofibrillar prote...
