چکیده

Several months ago McCoy, Meyer, and Rose (1935) described the isolation and identification of cr-amino+-hydroxy-n-butyric acid as a cleavage product of proteins, and demonstrated that the new amino acid is an indispensable component of the diet. Since that time attention has been directed to the determination of the spatial configuration of the compound. It is the purpose of the present paper to outline these investigations and to suggest a simple name for the amino acid.

SYNTHESIS OF a-AMINO-p-HYDROXY-n-BUTYRIC ACIDS VII. AN IMPROVED SYNTHESIS OF DL-ALLOTHREONINE

Several methods are available for the synthesis of DL-threonine (l-3). However, each of these involves the separation of threonine from a mixture containing varying proportions of the isomeric allothreonine. Recently it has been reported that derivatives of rm-allothreonine may be converted to DL-threonine in excellent yields (3-5). These developments make the preparation of nn-allothreonine of...

Design, synthesis and activity study of aminopeptidase N targeted 3-amino-2-hydroxy-4-phenyl-butanoic acid derivatives.

A series of (2RS,3S)-3-amino-2-hydroxy-4-phenyl-butanoic acids (AHPA) derivatives (MA0-MA7) were synthesized. The in vitro aminopeptidase N (APN) enzyme and cell proliferation assay of target compounds were investigated. The results showed that most compounds displayed potent inhibitory activities against APN, compound MA0 showed even better inhibitory effects than bestatin on both enzyme activ...

The Isoelectric Points of Threonine and Some Related Compounds

In connection with attempts in this laboratory to increase the yields of threonine in isolations from various prtiteins, it recently became essential to determine its isoelectric point. During the time since the isolation and identification of threonine by Rose and coworkers (1) and its subsequent synthesis by West and Carter (2), the isoelectric point of the pure compound has not been reported...

Dissimilation of methionine by fungi.

Soil fungi that attacked methionine required a utilizable source of energy such as glucose for growth. This is an example of co-dissimilation. Experiments with one of the fungi, representative of the group, are reported. In the absence of glucose, pregrown mycelium, even when depleted of energy reserves, oxidatively deaminated methionine with accumulation of alpha-keto-gamma-methyl mercapto but...

THE SYNTHESIS OF D-ERYTHRO- AND D-THREO-a-AMINO-

In 1931 Klenk and Diebold (1) reported that sphingosine, upon oxidative degradation, gave rise to myristic acid and an optically active dihydroxyaminobutyric acid, [o(]A3 = 33.4”, which these authors characterized as an cY-amino-p ,r-dihydroxy-n-butyric acid. 5 years later Fischer and Feldmann (2), starting from D-glyceric aldehyde, synthesized an optically active oc-amino-p ,r-dihydroxy-n-buty...
