Simulation on the Formation Process of Japanese Hiragana Characters by Deformation and Morphing

چکیده
This paper introduces a method for simulating the origin of Japanese Hiragana characters from their corresponding Chinese characters. By demolishing the Chinese characters, i.e., connecting some of their strokes with straight lines and deforming them, the square style Chinese characters are first transformed into their cursive writing style ones. Then, B-spline morphing is used to simulate the evolution process from the generated cursive writing style Chinese characters to the corresponding Japanese Hiragana characters, where the energy minimization principle is used to find the optimal smooth coefficient which makes the total morphing energy minimal. The experimental results show such a method as a reasonable way to simulate the origin of Japanese Hiragana characters.

Keyboards for inputting Japanese language-arxiv
The most commonly used Japanese alphabets are Kanji, Hiragana and Katakana. The Kanji alphabet includes pictographs or ideographic characters that were adopted from the Chinese alphabet. Hiragana and Katakana are phonetic alphabets that do not include any characters common to each other or to Kanji. Hiragana is used to spell words of Japanese origin, while Katakana is used to spell words of wes...
متن کاملChip Formation Process using Finite Element Simulation “Influence of Cutting Speed Variation”
The main aim of this paper is to study the material removal phenomenon using the finite element method (FEM) analysis for orthogonal cutting, and the impact of cutting speed variation on the chip formation, stress and plastic deformation. We have explored different constitutive models describing the tool-workpiece interaction. The Johnson-Cook constitutive model with damage initiation and damag...
متن کاملRecognition of Japanese Phonographic Kana (Hiragana) and Logographic Kanji Characters by Passive Finger Tracing
The present study assessed the ability of normal Japanese adults to recognize kanji and hiragana characters through passive finger tracing without visual cues. We tested fifty-six right-handed Japanese university students using the left or right hand. Participants recognized approximately 50% of 44 kanji characters, regardless of the hand they used. The results are consistent with previous find...
متن کاملThe role of interword spacing in reading Japanese: An eye movement study
The present study investigated the role of interword spacing in a naturally unspaced language, Japanese. Eye movements were registered of native Japanese readers reading pure Hiragana (syllabic) and mixed Kanji-Hiragana (ideographic and syllabic) text in spaced and unspaced conditions. Interword spacing facilitated both word identification and eye guidance when reading syllabic script, but not ...
متن کاملAcquisition process of typing skill using hierarchical materials in the Japanese language
In the present study, using a new keyboard layout with only eight keys, we conducted typing training for unskilled typists. In this task, Japanese college students received training in typing words consisting of a pair of hiragana characters with four keystrokes, using the alphabetic input method, while keeping the association between the keys and typists' finger movements; the task was constru...
