HLA antigens in psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis.

چکیده
HLA phenotypes were determined in 50 patients with psoriasis alone and in 50 patients with psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis. Positive associations were found in both groups with B13, B17, B37, Cw6, and DR7, and in addition with C4A6. Higher relative risks were found in respect to the patients with psoriasis alone compared with those with arthritis, and this suggests the involvement of additional genetic factors predisposing to peripheral arthritis. In patients with psoriasis only, the presence of Cw6 was associated with a significantly earlier age of onset.

Histocompatibility antigens in psoriasis, psoriatic arthropathy, and ankylosing spondylitis.
Patients with ankylosing spondylitis, psoriatic arthritis, and psoriasis alone were typed for HLA A, B, Cw, and DR antigens, and the antigen frequencies were compared with those in a normal control population and in patients with rheumatoid arthritis. Patients with psoriasis had a significantly raised frequency of Cw6. Those with arthritis in addition to their psoriasis also had raised frequenc...
متن کاملPsoriatic Arthritis
Psoriatic arthritis is a chronic inflammatory arthritis that affects about 5-25% of patients with psoriasis. The prevalence varies from 20-420 per 100,000 population across the world, except in Japan where it is 1 per 100,000. In about 80% of cases the presence of psoriasis precedes the onset of psoriatic arthritis. There is not a strong correlation between the severity of psoriasis and the dev...
متن کاملHLA-C locus alleles may modulate the clinical expression of psoriatic arthritis
The aim of the present study was to evaluate the relative contribution of human leukocyte antigen (HLA)-C locus alleles in determining the risk and the clinical expression of psoriatic arthritis (PsA). One hundred PsA patients were randomly selected and grouped into three disease subsets: oligoarthritis (n = 40), polyarthritis (n = 25) and spondylitis (n = 35). The HLA-C locus profile of this c...
متن کاملGenetics of Psoriasis and Psoriatic Arthritis
Psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis are linked diseases characterised by (distinct ?) immune-mediated pathogenetic mechanisms and by a genetic background interacting with environmental factors. Some candidate susceptibility genes have been studied extensively; they include HLA genes, genes within the HLA region and genes outside the HLA region; among them corneodesmosin and other genes of PSORS1 ...
متن کاملJuvenile psoriatic arthritis and HLA antigens.
The clinical, laboratory, and radiological features, including histocompatibility typing, of 28 patients with juvenile psoriatic arthritis are reported. The most common presentation was that of psoriasis preceding or occurring simultaneously with arthritis. The most common course of juvenile psoriatic arthritis was to start as an oligoarthritis and progress, usually to polyarthritis. No patient...
