Edge clique graphs and some classes of chordal graphs

چکیده
The edge clique graph of a graph G is one having as vertices the edges of G, two vertices being adjacent if the corresponding edges of G belong to a common clique. We describe characterizations relative to edge clique graphs and some classes of chordal graphs, such as starlike, starlike-threshold, split and threshold graphs. In particular, a known necessary condition for a graph to be an edge clique graph is that the sizes of all maximal cliques and intersections of maximal cliques ought to be triangular numbers. We show that this condition is also su7cient for starlike-threshold graphs. c © 2002 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.

Recognizing edge clique graphs among interval graphs and probe interval graphs
The edge clique graph of a graph H is the one having the edge set of H as vertex set, two vertices being adjacent if and only if the corresponding edges belong to a common complete subgraph of H. We characterize the graph classes {edge clique graphs} ∩ {interval graphs} as well as {edge clique graphs} ∩ {probe interval graphs}, which leads to polynomial time recognition algorithms for them. Thi...
متن کاملOn basic chordal graphs and some of its subclasses
Basic chordal graphs arose when comparing clique trees of chordal graphs and compatible trees of dually chordal graphs. They were defined as those chordal graphs whose clique trees are exactly the compatible trees of its clique graph. In this work, we consider some subclasses of basic chordal graphs. One of them is the class of hereditary basic chordal graphs, which will turn out to have many p...
متن کاملReduced clique graphs of chordal graphs
We investigate the properties of chordal graphs that follow from the well-known fact that chordal graphs admit tree representations. In particular, we study the structure of reduced clique graphs which are graphs that canonically capture all tree representations of chordal graphs. We propose a novel decomposition of reduced clique graphs based on two operations: edge contraction and removal of ...
متن کاملTotal-Chromatic Number and Chromatic Index of Dually Chordal Graphs
A graph is dually chordal if it is the clique graph of a chordal graph. Alternatively, a graph is dually chordal if it admits a maximum neighbourhood order. This class generalizes known subclasses of chordal graphs such as doubly chordal graphs, strongly chordal graphs and interval graphs. We prove that Vizing's total-colour conjecture holds for dually chordal graphs. We describe a new heuristi...
متن کاملOn Efficient Domination for Some Classes of H-Free Chordal Graphs
A vertex set D in a finite undirected graph G is an efficient dominating set (e.d.s. for short) of G if every vertex of G is dominated by exactly one vertex of D. The Efficient Domination (ED) problem, which asks for the existence of an e.d.s. in G, is known to be NP-complete even for very restricted graph classes such as for 2P3-free chordal graphs while it is solvable in polynomial time for P...
