چکیده

Well-posedness results for the state-based peridynamic nonlocal continuum model of solid mechanics are established with the help of a nonlocal vector calculus. The peridynamic strain energy density for an elastic constitutively linear anisotropic heterogenous solid is expressed in terms of the field operators of that calculus, after which a variational principle for the equilibrium state is defined. The peridynamic Navier equilibrium equation is then derived as the first-order necessary conditions and are shown to reduce, for the case of homogeneous materials, to the classical Navier equation as the extent of nonlocal interactions vanishes. Then, for certain peridynamic constitutive relations, the peridynamic energy space is shown to be equivalent to the space of square-integrable functions; this result leads to well-posedness results for volume-constrained problems of both the Dirichlet and Neumann types. Using standard results, well-posedness is also established for the time-dependent peridynamic equation of motion.

The Bond-based Peridynamic System with Dirichlet-type Volume Constraint

In this paper, the bond-based peridynamic system is analyzed as a nonlocal boundary value problem with volume constraint. The study extends earlier works in the literature on nonlocal diffusion and nonlocal peridynamic models to include non-positive definite kernels. We prove the well-posedness of both linear and nonlinear variational problems with volume constraints. The analysis is based on s...

Deformation of a Peridynamic Bar

The deformation of an infinite bar subjected to a self-equilibrated load distribution is investigated using the peridynamic formulation of elasticity theory. The peridynamic theory differs from the classical theory and other nonlocal theories in that it does not involve spatial derivatives of the displacement field. The bar problem is formulated as a linear Fredholm integral equation and solved...

Free vibrations analysis of a sandwich rectangular plate with electrorheological fluid core

In this paper, a rectangular sandwich plate with a constrained layer and an electrorheological (ER) fluid core is investigated. The rectangular plate is covered an ER fluid core and a constraining layer to improve the stability of the system. The two outer layers of the sandwich structure are elastic. The viscoelastic materials express the middle layer behavior under electric field and small st...

Mathematical and Numerical Analysis of Linear Peridynamic Models with Nonlocal Boundary Conditions

In this paper, we study the linear bond-based nonlocal peridynamic models with a particular focus on problems associated with nonstandard nonlocal displacement loading conditions. Both stationary and time-dependent problems are considered for a one-dimensional scalar equation defined on a finite bar and for a two-dimensional system defined on a square. The related peridynamic operators and asso...

Mathematical Analysis for the Peridynamic Nonlocal Continuum

We develop a functional analytical framework for a linear peridynamic model of a spring network system in any space dimension. Various properties of the peridynamic operators are examined for general micromodulus functions. These properties are utilized to establish the well-posedness of both the stationary peridynamic model and the Cauchy problem of the time dependent peridynamic model. The co...
