چکیده

Supracondylar femoral osteotomy was performed on 82 patients between 8 and 25 years of age to correct knee flexion contractures of 15 to 95 degrees resulting from poliomyelitis. Seven who could not walk before the osteotomy could do so afterwards and 21 out of22 patients were cured ofa hand-knee gait. Thirty-four of53 who walked with a caliper were able to discard it. Residual flexion contractures of5 to 20 degrees were found in 12 patients, while genu recurvatum of 5 to 30 degrees occurred in 10 patients.

Guided growth for correction of knee flexion deformity: a series of four cases

Fixed knee flexion deformity can present as an insidious and significant problem in diverse etiologies, most commonly in cerebral palsy. Traditional surgical intervention has included posterior capsulotomy and supracondylar femoral osteotomy, both of which carry significant associated morbidity and risks. In the skeletally immature patient, guided growth may be used to correct or substantially ...

Retrograde locked intramedullary nailing for aseptic supracondylar femoral nonunion following failed locked plating.

PURPOSE To review the outcome of retrograde locked nailing for aseptic supracondylar femoral nonunions following failed locked plating. METHODS Records of 20 men and 4 women aged 20 to 57 (mean, 39) years who underwent retrograde locked intramedullary nailing for aseptic supracondylar femoral nonunion following failed locked plating were reviewed. There were 20 closed and 4 open Gustilo type ...

Complete sacral agenesis--a case report.

We report a case of a girl with complete sacral agenesis associated with arthrogrypotic-like deformity. This case demonstrates that a posterior knee release and braces following operation are effective treatment for knee-flexion contractures. Accordingly it is suggested that a supracondylar osteotomy is not required for mild or moderate recurrence of knee-flexion contractures.

Supracondylar Osteotomy in Valgus Knee: Angle Blade Plate Versus Locking Compression Plate

Background: There are few studies comparing the biomechanical properties of angled blade plate and locking compression plates in supracondylar osteotomy. In the current randomized study, we prospectively compared the clinical and radiological outcomes of supracondylar osteotomy using these two plates. Methods: Forty patients with valgus knee malalignment were randomly assigned to two equal nu...

Distal femoral flexion deformity from growth disturbance treated with a two-level osteotomy and internal lengthening nail

Salter Harris fractures of the distal femur can lead to growth disturbance with resulting leg length inequality and knee deformity. We have looked at a case series (3) of patients who presented with a distal femur flexion malunion and shortening treated with a distal femoral osteotomy and plating and a proximal femoral osteotomy with a magnetic internal lengthening nail. Does a two-level osteot...
