چکیده

This article tackles the collection selection problem from the query side. Queries are enhanced by mapping them to subjects in an ontology; the associated subject classification terms are then employed to retrieve collections. An experimental comparison was performed with the state of the art ReDDE system, which relies on estimates of collection size to rank collections. Although the research is preliminary, there is some support to the hypothesis that this approach mitigates the need for collection size estimates in collection selection.

SUNNY for algorithm selection: a preliminary study

Given a collection of algorithms, the Algorithm Selection (AS) problem consists in identifying which of them is the best one for solving a given problem. In this paper we show how we adapted the algorithm selector SUNNY, originally tailored for constraint solving, to deal with general AS problems. Preliminary investigations based on the AS Library benchmarks already show some promising results:...

A Disaster Document Classification Technique Using Domain Specific Ontologies

Manual data collection and entry is one of the bottlenecks in conventional disaster management information systems. Time is a critical factor in emergency situations and timely data collection and processing may help in saving several lives. An effective disaster management system needs to collect data from World Wide Web automatically. A prerequisite for data collection process is document cla...

Developing a BIM-based Spatial Ontology for Semantic Querying of 3D Property Information

With the growing dominance of complex and multi-level urban structures, current cadastral systems, which are often developed based on 2D representations, are not capable of providing unambiguous spatial information about urban properties. Therefore, the concept of 3D cadastre is proposed to support 3D digital representation of land and properties and facilitate the communication of legal owners...

Integrated Clustering and Feature Selection Scheme for Text Documents

Problem statement: Text documents are the unstructured databases that contain raw data collection. The clustering techniques are used group up the text documents with reference to its similarity. Approach: The feature selection techniques were used to improve the efficiency and accuracy of clustering process. The feature selection was done by eliminate the redundant and irrelevant items from th...
