چکیده

Trace elements, at tolerable concentrations, are either part of the active site or act as an activity modulator of ligninolytic enzymes of white-rot mushrooms. They are usually in plant raw materials in a non-toxic amount or non-available and extractable forms. This study evaluated the effects of Fe, Zn, and Se on the activity of laccase and Mn-oxidizing peroxidases of P. ostreatus and P. pulmonarius during solid-state fermentation of grapevine sawdust. The studied species showed different levels of tolerance to the trace elements. A stimulatory effect of the microelements on laccase activity was demonstrated in P. ostreatus, while Fe and Zn were strong inhibitors of the activity of P. pulmonarius, which was contrary to Se, independent of the cultivation period. With the exception of SeO2, activity of Mn-oxidizing peroxidases in P. ostreatus was suppressed in various levels by the elements. However, in P. pulmonarius, activity against phenol red oxidation in the presence of external Mn 2+ was stimulated by the elements on day 7, while on day 10, activity inhibition by Fe and Zn and stimulation by Se was noted. The effect on activity against phenol red oxidation in the absence of external Mn 2+ was the opposite.

Role of ligninolytic enzymes of white rot fungi (Pleurotus spp.) grown with azo dyes

BACKGROUND Total three Pleurotus species (P. ostreatus, P. sapidus, P. florida) was compared for ligninolytic enzyme production grown with Coralene Golden Yellow, Coralene Navy Blue and Coralene Dark Red azo dyes in liquid medium under shaking condition. RESULTS The biodegradation competency varied from species to species and it was found that P. ostreatus, P. sapidus and P. florida to 20 ppm...

Sugarcane bagasse improves the activity of ligninolytic enzymes and decolourization of dyes by the white-rot fungus Pleurotus ostreatus

Stationary cultures of Pleurotus ostreatus, MTCC-1804 supplemented with bagasse powder or its ethanolic extract, showed a concentration-dependent enhancement in the laccase activity both in liquid and semi-solid (glass bead) cultures. Bagasse extract also imparted greater stability to the enzyme. Mn-peroxidase (MnP) activity was detected only in cultures supplemented with bagasse or its extract...

Copper Improves the Production of Laccase by the White- Rot Fungus Pleurotus pulmonarius in Solid State Fermentation

Pleurotus pulmonarius (Fr) Quélet, produced laccase as the main ligninolytic enzyme when cultivated on solid-state cultures using corn cob as substrate. The addition of copper greatly increased the production of enzyme. The addition of 25.0 mM CuSO4 increased the level of laccase from 270 to 1,420 U.L-1 and the fungus showed high resistance to copper under the conditions used in this work.

Influence of the Cultivation Conditions on Ligninolytic Enzyme Production in Pleurotus Pulmonarius

The highest level of laccase activity (391 Ul–1), as well as significant Mn-oxidizing peroxidases production, were found in solid-state culture with grapevine sawdust as the carbon source. After purification of extracellular crude enzyme mixture of Pleurotus pulmonarius, grown in the medium with the best carbon source (grapevine sawdust), three peaks of laccase activity were noted. The results ...

Anti-leukemic and immunomodulatory effects of fungal metabolites of Pleurotus pulmonarius and Pleurotus ostreatus on benzene-induced leukemia in Wister rats

BACKGROUND The use of natural bioactive compounds in conventional chemotherapy is a new direction in cancer treatment that is gaining more research attention recently. Bioactive polysaccharides and polysaccharide-protein complexes from some fungi (edible mushrooms) have been identified as sources of effective and non-toxic antineoplastic agents. Selected oyster mushrooms (Pleurotus pulmonarius ...
