چکیده

Responses to androgen vary widely among prostate cancers and prostatic carcinoma cell lines. We have explored the basis for this heteroge neity by examining the levels of androgen receptor expression in a prostate carcinoma cell line (LNCaP) that expresses the androgen recep tor and two prostate carcinoma cell lines that do not contain detectable androgen receptor. We find that while the LNCaP cell line contains high levels of both the androgen receptor protein and mRNA, the receptornegative cell lines DU-145 and PC-3 do not express androgen receptor protein as detected by immunoblotting or mRNA as detected by Northern analysis or S, nuclease protection. These results indicate that the absence of androgen receptor expression in the androgen receptor-negative cell lines is caused by diminished androgen receptor mRNA levels. Genomic Southern analysis indicates that the differences in androgen receptor expression in each of these cell lines is not associated with detectable alterations in the structure of the androgen receptor gene.

P-231: Androgen Receptor Gene Expression in Azoospermia Men

Background: Androgens are critical steroid hormones in progression of spermatogenesis process and determine the male phenotype that their actions are mediated by the androgen receptor (AR), a member of the nuclear receptor superfamily. In the Androgen receptor, transactivation domain encoded by exon 1, DNA binding domain encoded by exons 2 and 3, hinge region encoded by part of exon 4, and C-te...

Study of NGEP expression in androgen sensitive prostate cancer cells: A potential target for immunotherapy

Background: Prostate cancer is one of the leading causes of cancer deaths among men. New gene expressed in prostate (NGEP), is a prostate-specific gene expressed only in normal prostate and prostate cancer tissue. Because of its selective expression in prostate cancer cell surface, NGEP is a potential immunotherapeutic target. To target the NGEP in prostate cancer, it is essential to investig...

TITLE: GKLF as a Novel Target in Selenium Chemoprevention of Prostate Cancer

Our previous report showed that methylseleninic acid (MSA) significantly decreases the expression of androgen receptor and prostate-specific antigen (PSA) in LNCaP cells. The present study extended the above observations by showing the universality of this phenomenon and that the inhibitory effect of MSA on prostate cancer cell growth and cancer-specific biomarkers is mediated through androgen ...
