چکیده
The increased susceptibility of epidermal cells to a carcinogen following a single prior treatment with croton oil and its correla tion with increaced DNA synthesis following croton oil was con firmed. The effect of croton oil on DNA synthesis was local rather than systemic, just as Pound found its effect on increased susceptibility to a carcinogento belocalratherthan systemic. The effect of prior treatment with croton oil was diminished and finally obliterated by increasing dosages of the carcinogen.

Ambivalent Effects of Atorvastatin on Angiogenesis, Epidermal Cell Proliferation and Tumorgenesis in Animal Models
Background: A growing body of preclinical data indicates that statins may possess antineoplastic properties however, some studies have raised the possibility that statins may also have carcinogenic potential. Methods: An air pouch model was used for angiogenesis. Single or multiple applications of croton oil on the back of Swiss albino mice with or without initiation by dimethylbenz(a)antherace...

The present study was conducted to evaluate the potential of flaxseed oil to prevent chemically induced skin cancer in mice. Cancer was induced on 2-stage skin carcinogenesis model by single topical application of 7,12 dimethylbenz [a]anthracene (DMBA), as, initiator, and two weeks later it was promoted by croton oil treatment thrice a week on the dorsal surface of mice for 16 weeks. Flaxseed o...

brought to visible tumors. Mottram (10) observed tumor production in mouse skin after exposing it to a single treatment with a carcinogenic hydrocarbon, followed by re peated applications of croton oil. Later, Berenblum and Shubik (3) adapted this method to a quantitative approach to the study of chemical carcinogenesis. According to this method, the actual number of tumors produced were said t...

The incidence of skin tumors has been studied in three strains of mice, namely, TO, C57BL, and DBA/2, after treatment with the carcinogen 15,16-dihydro-11-methylcyclopenta[a]phenanthren-17-one. After either a single dose followed by croton oil promotion or a continual dose of the carcinogen, tumors were observed in the TO and C57BL strains, with the TO mice having the shorter mean latent period...
متن کاملInduction of Skin Tumors in the Mouse with Minute Doses of 9,10-Dimethyl-l,2-benzanthracene Alone or with Croton Oil*
Tumors have been induced frequently in the laboratory mouse following exposure to the carcinogenic hydrocarbons (6). In many of these studies, the chemicals were applied continuously and at a relatively high concentration. Cramer and Stowell (5) compared the tumorigenic effectiveness of e0-methylcholanthrene when applied continuously or discontinuously to the skin of mice and concluded that ski...
