چکیده

We found a high prevalence of RET expression among our papillary carcinoma at 77% 08 of 53); p< 0.001. Interestingly, the follicular adenomas and nodular hyperplasia cases exhibited a low expression of RET of 18% (9 of 50 cases) and 22.7% 05 of 66) respectively. RET/PTC re-arrangement has been demonstrated in these lesions before 7,8. It has been postulated that these positive follicular cell represented focal clonal expansion of neoplastic cells.

Molecular basis off hurthle cell papillary thyroid carcinoma.

Among thyroid neoplasms, Hurthle cell tumors (HCTs) have traditionally been a distinct diagnostic category. Hurthle cell adenomas are encapsulated follicular lesions with benign behavior. Hurthle cell carcinomas exhibit unequivocal capsular and/or vascular invasion; they are aggressive tumors with a poor prognosis. Recently, Hurthle cell papillary thyroid carcinomas (PTCs) have been identified ...

The ret/ptc1 oncogene is activated in familial adenomatous polyposis-associated thyroid papillary carcinomas.

Familial adenomatous polyposis (FAP) is caused by germ-line mutations of the apc gene, and it is associated with an increased risk of developing papillary thyroid carcinomas. We have previously reported that a significant fraction of sporadic human papillary thyroid carcinomas is characterized by gene rearrangements affecting the ret protooncogene. These rearrangements generate chimeric transfo...

Prevalence and distribution of ret/ptc 1, 2, and 3 in papillary thyroid carcinoma in New Caledonia and Australia.

The world's highest incidence of thyroid cancer has been reported among females in New Caledonia, a French overseas territory in the Pacific located between Australia and Fiji. To date, no molecular genetic studies in this population are available. Over the past few years, the oncogenic rearrangement of the ret protooncogene (ret/ptc) has been studied in papillary carcinomas in different popula...

High prevalence of BRAF gene mutation in papillary thyroid carcinomas and thyroid tumor cell lines.

The RAS-RAF-MEK-ERK-MAP kinase pathway mediates the cellular response to extracellular signals that regulate cell proliferation, differentiation, and apoptosis. Mutation of the RAS proto-oncogene occurs in various thyroid neoplasms such as papillary thyroid carcinomas (PTCs), follicular thyroid adenomas and carcinomas. A second genetic alteration frequently involved in PTC is RET/PTC rearrangem...
