چکیده

We describe the case of a patient who developed a severe and symptomatic Parvovirus B19 associated anemia during R-CHOP-14 chemoimmunotherapy of a secondary high-grade Non-Hodgkin ́s lymphoma. While lymphoma responded to the initial therapy with R-CHOP plus consolidation radiation therapy, the anemia was interpreted as pure red cell aplasia and responded to treatment with intravenous immunoglobulins. However, both diseases failed to respond to salvage therapies when they recurred simultaneously 4 months after the completion of primary therapy.

Pure red cell aplasia due to parvovirus B19 in a patient treated with rituximab.

Rituximab is a chimeric monoclonal antibody directed against CD20 and used in the treatment of B-cell non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. Due to its ability to deplete B lymphocytes, rituximab can interfere with humoral immunity, causing it to be suppressed for several months after treatment. The reported case depicts a serious consequence of this effect of rituximab therapy: pure red cell aplasia resultin...

Persistent Anemia in a Patient with Diffuse Large B Cell Lymphoma: Pure Red Cell Aplasia Associated with Latent Epstein-Barr Virus Infection in Bone Marrow

We report a case of pure red cell aplasia (PRCA), which was initially suspected as a result of bone marrow involvement of diffuse large B cell lymphoma. Persistent anemia without an obvious cause was observed in a 47-yr-old man diagnosed with relapsed diffuse large B cell lymphoma. The bone marrow study showed only erythroid hypoplasia without the evidence of bone marrow involvement with lympho...

Pure Red Cell Aplasia due to B19 Parvovirus Infection after Autologous Stem Cell Transplantation

Parvovirus B19 is recognized as a rare cause of pure red cell aplasia (PRCA) in allogeneic stem cell (SCT) and solid organ transplant patients. We report a patient with Hodgkin's disease who developed PRCA due to parvovirus B19 after autologous SCT and who had an excellent response after treatment with gamma-globulin.

Development of DOTA-Rituximab kit formulation to be labeled with 90Y for radioimmunotherapy of B-cell Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma

NHL is the most common hematologic cancer in adults. Rituximab is the FDA approved treatment of relapsed or refractory low grade B-cell Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma (NHL). But patients eventually become resistant to rituximab. Since lymphocytes and lymphoma cells are highly radiosensitive, low grade NHL that has relapsed or refractory to standard therapy is treated by RIT in which a beta-emitting radio...

Parvovirus B19–induced pure red cell aplasia in a heart transplant recipient.

A 29-year-old female presented with unexplained anemia (hemoglobin 77 g/L) 5 years after orthoptic heart transplantation. She was being treated with high-dose immunosuppression. The blood film demonstrated a normochromic normocytic anemia. The white cell and platelet counts were normal. There was reticulocytopenia (1 109/L, 0.04%) and an elevated erythropoietin (356 U/mL; normal, 5-18.5 U/mL) w...
