Cooperative communication using mobile relays with α-proportional fair scheduling

چکیده
In this paper, a cooperative relaying system with α-proportional fair scheduling is proposed for multi-carrier systems. The cooperative relaying provides ’virtual’ MIMO through combining the signals from the source and the relay at the destination in addition to the advantage of the simple relaying which reduces path-loss attenuation in the air interface. We have adopted the α-proportional fair algorithm as a scheduling algorithm to compromise between the capacity and the fairness of users using multi-user diversity and user’s average rate. From the simulation results, it is shown that the proposed system improves the capacity compared to the conventional system without the cooperative relaying which maintaining the fairness of users. In addition, the proposed system can reduce the outage probability by 15% compared to the conventional system.

Relay Routing and Scheduling for Capacity Improvement in Cellular WLANs
In classical infrastructure-based wireless systems, all mobile terminals communicate directly with the access point. In such systems, the transmission capacity, i.e., the amount of traffic successfully communicated to/from the access point, is important. This paper studies the possibility to increase this capacity by using mobile terminals as intermediate relays. These relays reduce the communi...

Many works have tackled on the problem of throughput and fairness optimization in cellular cooperative relaying systems. Considering firstly a two-user relay broadcast channel, we design a scheme based on Superposition Coding (SC) which maximizes the achievable sum-rate under a Proportional Fairness (PF) constraint. Unlike most relaying schemes where users are allocated orthogonally, our scheme...

This paper addresses downlink cooperation at a system level. Cooperation between Base Stations is an alternative to macrodiversity to provide QoS continuity in case of mobility. We propose a Radio Resource Management strategy for the relay channel, made of relayed users identification, resource allocation and power control in an OFDMA-based system. Four scheduling methods are tested for power a...

Non-cooperative behaviors in communication networks can significantly adversely affect the entire network. Recently, researchers have begun to study such non-cooperative communication systems within a game theory framework and strive to engineer the system to prevent performance degradation under non-cooperative behaviors. The WWAN/WLAN two-hop-relay system described in [1] integrates two types...

The nodes of wireless communication networks are usually equipped with buffers for temporary data storage as required by many network and transportation layer protocols. For example, in the store-carry-forward protocol employed in delay-/disruption-tolerant networking (DTN), temporally disconnected, intermediate nodes may store data packets until they regain connection to the destination or the...
