چکیده

The chemical industry has recently begun to look at enzymes as novel catalysts for many organic syntheses. Nitrile-hydrolyzing enzymes such as nitrile hydratase and nitrilase have great potential as catalysts in processing organic chemical because they can convert nitriles to the corresponding higher-value amides or acids. Recently, the use of bacterial nitrile hydratase for industrial production of the important chemical commodity, acrylamide, was pioneered in Japan. We review here the enzymatic production of acrylamide, and how other recent progress in nitrile biotransformations.

Production and Characterization of a Nitrilase from Pseudomonas aeruginosa RZ44 and its Potential for Nitrile Biotransformation

Background: The conversion of nitriles into amides or carboxylic acids by nitrilase has taken its application into consideration, as the scope of its applications has recently been extended. Objectives: In this study, P. aeruginosa RZ44 was isolated from sewage in the Kerman which has Nitrile-degradation activity. In order to improve the nitrilase production, several optimization were done on e...

Nitrile-Degrading Bacteria Isolated from Compost

Nitriles are a diverse group of organic compounds with –C≡N as functional group. Most nitriles are slightly cytotoxic but some cause severe toxic effects. More than 120 naturally occurring nitriles without considering cyanogenic glycosides are present in terrestrial and marine habitats, especially in plant components such as almonds or other fruit pits. The most common group of naturally occurr...

Nitrilases – an Attractive Nitrile Degrading Biocatalyst

Nitrile compounds are found everywhere in nature. They are synthesized naturally as well as xenobiotically. Nitrilases are nitrile degrading enzymes and belong to nitrilase superfamily. They convert nitriles into corresponding acids in a single step pathway. Members of this superfamily are present in both prokaryotes and eukaryotes and have characteristics αββα fold. They pose conserved Cystein...
