On the convergence of blind adaptive equalizers for constant modulus signals

چکیده
This paper studies the behavior of the error sequence of stop-and-go variants of two adaptive blind equalizers, namely CMA2-2 and Sato’s algorithm. It is shown that for transmitted signals with constant modulus , the equalizer output can be made to lie within the circle of radius p c infinitely often, for some value of c that is only slightly larger than one.

Blind adapted, pre-whitened constant modulus algorithm
We examine the use of a blind adaptive “pre-whitening” filter to precede an equalizer adapted by the constant modulus algorithm (CMA). The idea is based on results presented in which the use of a (fixed, or non-adaptive) pre-whitening filter provides an isometry (i.e. geometry preserving transformation) between the combined channel-equalizer (or global space) and the equalizer tap space. As muc...
متن کاملImproving the Rate of Convergence of Blind Adaptive Equalization for Fast Varying Digital Communication Systems
The recent digital transmission systems impose the application of channel equalizers with bandwidth efficiency, which mitigates the bottleneck of intersymbol interference for high-speed data transmission-over communication channels. This leads to the exploration of blind equalization techniques that do not require the use of a training sequence. Blind equalization techniques however suffer from...
متن کاملAdaptive soft-constraint satisfaction (SCS) algorithms for fractionally-spaced blind equalizers
Constant Modulus algorithms based on a deterministic error criterion are presented. Soft constraint satisfaction methods yield a general family of blind equalization algorithms employing nonlinear functions of the equalizer output which must satisfy certain conditions. The algorithms are also extended to cover fractionally-spaced blind equalization. A normalization factor which appears as a res...
متن کاملAdaptive Blind Source Separation and Equalization for Multiple-Input/Multiple-Output Systems
In this paper, we investigate adaptive blind source separation and equalization for multiple-input/multiple-output (MIMO) systems. We first analyze the convergence of the constant modulus algorithm (CMA) used in MIMO systems (MIMOCMA). Our analysis reveals that the MIMO-CMA equalizer is able to recover one of the input signals, remove the intersymbol interference (ISI), and suppress the other i...
متن کاملConvex combinations of adaptive algorithms for blind equalization of QAM signals
Based on concurrent algorithms and on the convex combination of one slow and one fast CMA (Constant Modulus Algorithm), we propose a convex combination of two blind equalizers adapted respectively by CMA and the modified SDD (Soft Decision-Directed) algorithm for recovering of QAM (Quadrature Amplitude Modulation) signals. For high signal-to-noise ratio, the performance of the proposed scheme i...
