چکیده

A triaxial constitutive model is developed for elastoplastic behavior of geomaterials, which accounts for tensile damage. The constitutive setting is formulated in the framework of continuum thermodynamics using internal variables. The interaction of elastic damage and plastic flow is examined with the help of very simple constitutive assumptions: (i) a Drucker-Prager yield function is used to define plastic loading of the material in combination with a non-associated flow rule to control inelastic dilatancy; (ii) elastic damage is assumed to be isotropic and is represented by a single scalar variable that evolves under expansive volumetric strain. Thereby, positive volumetric deformations couple the dissipation mechanisms of elastic damage and plastic flow which introduce degradation of the elastic stiffness as well as softening of the strength. The constitutive model is implemented in the finite element program ADINA to determine the response behavior of the combined damage-plasticity model under

FEM Implementation of the Coupled Elastoplastic/Damage Model: Failure Prediction of Fiber Reinforced Polymers (FRPs) Composites

The coupled damage/plasticity model for meso-level which is ply-level in case of Uni-Directional (UD) Fiber Reinforced Polymers (FRPs) is implemented. The mathematical formulations, particularly the plasticity part, are discussed in a comprehensive manner. The plastic potential is defined in effective stress space and the damage evolution is based on the theory of irreversible thermodynamics. T...

On elastoplastic damage modelling in unsaturated geomaterials

In the context of nuclear waste disposal, the modelling of the behaviour of host rocks and soils still needs improvement. Unsaturated porous geomaterials exhibit particular behaviour when exposed to suction. Their non-linear behaviour may result from two different processes, plasticity which induces irreversible strains and damage which causes a deterioration of their elastic properties. Many e...

Viscoplastic Modelling of Unsaturated Geomaterials

In this paper a rate dependent model for unsaturated geomaterials is presented. The formulation and numerical predictions are compared with available experimental results and discussed. The constitutive laws for the description of the time-dependent mechanical behaviour of saturated and unsaturated geomaterials generalize the isotach approach to the elastoplastic strain hardening based constitu...

A Coupled Chemo-Elastoplastic- Damage Constitutive Model for Plain Concrete Subjected to High Temperature

A coupled elastoplastic-damage constitutive model taking into account chemo-induced elastoplastic-damage effects for the modeling of coupled chemothermo-hygro-mechanical behavior of concretes at high temperature is proposed in this article. A three-step operator split algorithm for the integration of the rate coupled constitutive equations is developed. Consistent tangent modulus matrices for c...

Viscous Approximation of Quasistatic Evolutions for a Coupled Elastoplastic-damage Model

Employing the technique of vanishing viscosity and time rescaling, we show the existence of quasistatic evolutions for elastoplastic materials with incomplete damage affecting both the elastic tensor and the plastic yield surface, in a softening framework and in small strain assumptions.
