چکیده

Intracranial Pressure Gradients Associated With Experimental Cerebral Embolism • In a series of 20 cats unilateral cerebral oil embolism was followed by the development of clinical signs of increased intracranial pressure. Simultaneous bilateral epidural pressure measurements revealed marked pressure gradients between both cerebral hemispheres. Such local (tissue) pressure gradients possibly influence local cerebral blood flow (mainly in the diseased areas) by means of alterations in local tissue perfusion pressure. ADDITIONAL

Intracranial pressure gradients caused by experimental cerebral ischemia and edema.

Intracranial Pressure Gradients Caused by Experimental Cerebral Ischemia and Edema • To assess the development and resolution of ischemic cerebral edema and brain swelling, measurements of intracranial pressure (ICP) were made in cats after the transorbital occlusion of one middle cerebral artery. Measurement of ICP gradients was difficult: epidural, subdural and intraventricular catheters caus...

Effect of cerebrospinal fluid removal on cerebral blood flow and metabolism in the baboon: influence of tyrosine infusion and cerebral embolism on cerebrospinal fluid pressure autoregulation.

Cerebral blood flow (CBF) and metabolism were measured before and after withdrawal of 5 to 6 ml of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) in 17 baboons. The measurements were made before and after infusion of tyrosine, the precursor amino acid of the putative neurotransmitters, dopamine and norepinephrine, in the brain. The same observations were made in another experimental group, i.e., before and after ac...

The Experimental Study of Increased ICP on Cerebral Hemorrhage Rabbits with Magnetic Induction Phase Shift Method

Introduction Measuring magnetic induction phase shift (MIPS) changes as a function of cerebral hemorrhage volume has the potential for being a simple method for primary and non-contact detection of the occurrence and progress of cerebral hemorrhage. Our previous MIPS study showed that the intracranial pressure (ICP) was used as a contrast index and found the primary correlation between MIPS and...

Raised intracranial pressure and cerebral blood flow. 4. Intracranial pressure gradients and regional cerebral blood flow.

Intracranial pressure was raised by expansion of a supratentorial subdural ballon in anaesthetized baboons. Pressures were measured at several sites, both supratentorial and infratentorial, and cerebral blood flow was measured in each cerebral hemisphere separately. Pressures recorded from the right and left lateral ventricles corresponded closely throughout. Highly significant correlations wer...

Spontaneous Intracranial Hypotension Plus Cerebral Venous Thrombosis: A Case Report Study

This is a case study of a 34-year-old woman who was admitted to hospital with a history of severe orthostatic headache. She was diagnosed as having spontaneous intracranial hypotension (SIH) by undetectable cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) pressure at lumbar puncture, and with evidence of diffuse dural enhancement of the brain detected by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). However, the contrast-enhance...
