Interdomain VPLS and Deployment Experiences

چکیده
The main objective of emergent standard Virtual Private LAN Service (VPLS) is the interconnection of users located at different geographic locations as if they were in the same local area network. In this sense, the investigations and tests that have been done are mainly focused on point-to-point interconnection scenarios using Virtual Private Networks (VPNs), as there have been few tests done up until now in academic and research networks with multipoint scenarios and they have been done mainly within the same domain, but not between different domains. In this paper, we describe the process to put in production VPLS service for testing purposes in an interprovider environment, doing initial tests on a real scenario. With it, one hopes to verify its behaviour in a real production network, analysing the benefits that can be provided to the customers, especially with respect to advanced applications and distributed computing, as it is the case in Grid applications.

Redundancy Mechanism for Inter-domain VPLS Service
In many existing Virtual Private LAN Service (VPLS) inter-domain deployments (based on RFC 4762), pseudowire (PW) connectivity offers no Provider Edge (PE) node redundancy, or offers PE node redundancy with only a single domain. This deployment approach incurs a high risk of service interruption, since at least one domain will not offer PE node redundancy. This document describes an inter-domai...
متن کاملBeyond CIDR Aggregation
Previously Broido and Claffy analysed the global Internet interdomain routing system based on BGP policy atoms: equivalence classes of prefixes based on common AS path as observed from a number of topological locations [6] [7]. In this report we define a variant of policy atoms, called declared atoms. Declared atoms constitute an aggregation mechanism complementary to CIDR aggregation. We descr...
متن کاملRich-VPLs for Improving the Versatility of Many-Light Methods
Many-light methods approximate the light transport in a scene by computing the direct illumination from many virtual point light sources (VPLs), and render low-noise images covering a wide range of performance and quality goals. However, they are very inefficient at representing glossy light transport. This is because a VPL on a glossy surface illuminates a small fraction of the scene only, and...

The Internet2 project is a partnership of over 130 U.S. universities, 40 corporations and 30 other organizations. Since its inception, one of the primary technical objectives of Internet2 has been to engineer scalable, interoperable, and administrable interdomain quality of service (QoS) to support an evolving set of new advanced networked applications. Applications like distance learning, remo...
متن کاملImplementing Level 4 Liveness in Declarative Visual Programming Languages
An increasingly common characteristic in visual programming languages (VPLs) is level 4 liveness—the constant monitoring of the system state with continuous redisplay as events arrive and computations progress. However, level 4 liveness can be expensive. In this paper, we present an implementation method that supports level 4 liveness in declarative VPLs, ensuring without “unreasonable” cost th...
