Finite volume schemes for fully non-linear elliptic equations in divergence form

چکیده

It is known, see [22], that such equations have unique weak solutions in W 1,p 0 (Ω) (the uniqueness comes from the fact that we consider a monotone operator: a does not depend on ū). These kinds of problem appear for example in the motion of glaciers [21], in flows of incompressible turbulent fluids through porous media [11] or in airfoil design [20]. They also serve as basic references for the mathematical study of fully non-linear elliptic equations (the canonical example being the p-Laplacian: −div(|∇u|p−2∇u) = f).

A Composite Finite Difference Scheme for Subsonic Transonic Flows (RESEARCH NOTE).

This paper presents a simple and computationally-efficient algorithm for solving steady two-dimensional subsonic and transonic compressible flow over an airfoil. This work uses an interactive viscous-inviscid solution by incorporating the viscous effects in a thin shear-layer. Boundary-layer approximation reduces the Navier-Stokes equations to a parabolic set of coupled, non-linear partial diff...

Linear and Quadratic Finite Volume Methods on Triangular Meshes for Elliptic Equations with Singular Solutions

This paper is devoted to the presentation and analysis of some linear and quadratic finite volume (FV) schemes for elliptic problems with singular solutions due to the non-smoothness of the domain. Our FV schemes are constructed over specially-designed graded triangular meshes. We provide sharp parameter selection criteria for the graded mesh, such that both the linear and quadratic FV schemes ...

Virtual Control Volumes for Two-Dimensional Unstructured Elliptic Smoothing

A two-dimensional unstructured elliptic smoothing method is described where the Winslow equations are discretized using a finite volume approach. Virtual control volumes for each node are constructed with element shapes that are nearly ideal. Green-Gauss theorem is used to formulate gradients over an element or a collection of elements for a node, which ultimately leads to a coupled non-linear ...

A Recipe to Couple Two Finite Volume Schemes for Elliptic Problems

We propose and study a method to discretize linear second order elliptic equations on a domain Ω using any two finite volume schemes, each scheme being applied on a different region of Ω. We point out general properties of finite volume schemes which allow us to prove the well-posedness and convergence of the method, and we provide numerical results, involving two particular schemes, to show it...

Numerical Simulation of a Lead-Acid Battery Discharge Process using a Developed Framework on Graphic Processing Units

In the present work, a framework is developed for implementation of finite difference schemes on Graphic Processing Units (GPU). The framework is developed using the CUDA language and C++ template meta-programming techniques. The framework is also applicable for other numerical methods which can be represented similar to finite difference schemes such as finite volume methods on structured grid...
