Structural differences in lignin between Eucalyptus clones determined by analytical pyrolysis-gas chromatography/mass spectrometry

چکیده
In this study, a large number of wood samples from several species of Eucalyptus, including E. grandis, E. urophylla, E. globulus, E. dunnii, E. camaldulensis and their crossing were characterized by pyrolysis-GC/MS method. All the measurements were done directly from the Eucalypus wood samples. S/G ratios were calculated for all guaiacyl and syringyl lignin pyrolysis derivatives. The results were compared with the S/G ratios measured by nitrobenzene oxidation method. S/G ratios obtained by the two methods were close to each other. However, no linear correlation between the methods was found. Overall variation in lignin structure between different Eucalyptus hybrids was minor. However, due to the sensitivity of the pyrolysis-GC/MS method, it was possible to detect differences in lignin structures that correlate to the species in the hybrids.

Understanding pulp delignification by laccase-mediator systems through isolation and characterization of lignin-carbohydrate complexes.
The effects and mechanism of pulp delignification by laccases in the presence of redox mediators have been investigated on unbleached eucalyptus kraft pulp treated with laccases from Pycnoporus cinnabarinus (PcL) and Myceliophthora thermophila (MtL) and 1-hydroxybenzotriazole (HBT) and methyl syringate (MeS) as mediators, respectively. Determination of the corrected κ number in eucalyptus pulps...

In a previous study, selective degradation of carbohydrates versus lignin in buried woods was demonstrated by non-destructive spectroscopy (C NMR) and destructive wet chemical methods (acid hydrolysis and alkaline CuO oxidation). In this paper, spruce, alder and oak woods deposited in coastal sediments and their recent equivalents are characterized by pyrolysis-mass spectrometry and pyrolysis-g...

Lignin changes during plant growth were investigated in a selected Eucalyptus globulus clone. The lignin composition and structure were studied in situ by a new procedure enabling the acquisition of two-dimensional nuclear magnetic resonance (2D-NMR) spectra on wood gels formed in the NMR tube as well as by analytical pyrolysis-gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. In addition, milled-wood lign...
متن کاملLignin modification during Eucalyptus globulus kraft pulping followed by totally chlorine-free bleaching: a two-dimensional nuclear magnetic resonance, Fourier transform infrared, and pyrolysis-gas chromatography/mass spectrometry study.
Chemical modification of eucalypt lignin was investigated during kraft pulping and chlorine-free bleaching by comparing milled wood lignin, kraft lignin, and pulp enzymatic residual lignins. The syringyl-to-guaiacyl ratio (S/G) from analytical pyrolysis slightly changed during pulping and bleaching (S/G, 3-4) but was higher in the kraft lignin. Semiquantitative heteronuclear single quantum corr...

The chemical structures of four alkali lignins isolated from poplar, fir, straw, and bagasse were investigated. To explore the relationship between the structural units and the thermal decomposition behavior, the system was tested by elemental analysis, Fourier transform infrared spectrometry, thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), and pyrolysis-gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (Py-GC/MS). The r...
