چکیده

We present the results of optical identification of two X-ray sources from RXTE and INTEGRAL all sky surveys: XSS J00564+4548 and IGR J00234+6141. Using the optical data from Russian-Turkish 1.5-m Telescope (RTT150) and SWIFT X-ray observations, we show that these sources most probably are intermediate polars, i.e. binary systems with accreting white dwarfs with not very strong magnetic field (∼10 MG). Periodical oscillations of optical emission with periods ≈ 480 and ≈ 570 s were found. We argue that these periods most probably correspond to the rotating periods of the white dwarfs in these systems. Further optical observations scheduled at RTT150 will allow to study the parameters of these systems in more detail.

IGR J 00234 + 6141 : a new INTEGRAL source identified as an Intermediate polar ?

Context. Following an extensive survey of the galactic plane by the INTEGRAL satellite, new hard X-ray sources are discovered with a significant fraction of Cataclysmic Variables (CVs) among them. Aims. We report here the identification of one of these hard X-ray sources, IGR J00234+6141, as an accreting magnetic white dwarf of inter-

RXTE determination of the intermediate polar status of XSS J00564+4548, IGR J17195--4100, and XSS J12270--4859

Aims. We determine the nature of the intermediate polar candidates XSS J00564+4548, IGR J17195–4100, and XSS J12270–4859. Methods. Pointed RXTE observations searched for intermediate polar characteristics in these candidate systems. Results. XSS J00564+4548 exhibits a period of 465.68 ± 0.07 s, which we interpret as the spin period, an energy dependent modulation depth, and a spectrum that is f...

Time-resolved optical observations of five cataclysmic variables detected by INTEGRAL

The ESA γ-ray telescope, INTEGRAL, is detecting relatively more intrinsically rare cataclysmic variables (CVs) than were found by surveys at lower energies. Specifically, a large fraction of the CVs that are INTEGRAL sources consists of asynchronous polars and intermediate polars (IPs). IP classifications have been proposed for the majority of CVs discovered by INTEGRAL, but, in many cases, the...

RXTE and XMM observations of intermediate polar candidates

Aims. To determine the credentials of nine candidate intermediate polars in order to confirm whether or not they are magnetic cataclysmic variables. Methods. Frequency analysis of RXTE and XMM data was used to search for temporal variations which could be associated with the spin period of the magnetic white dwarf. X-ray spectral analysis was carried out to characterise the emission and absorpt...
