Self-aware Memory: Managing Distributed Memory in an Autonomous Multi-master Environment

چکیده
A major problem considering parallel computing is maintaining memory consistency and coherency, and ensuring ownership and access rights. These problems mainly arise from the fact that memory in parallel and distributed systems is still managed locally, e.g. using a combination of shared-busand directory-based approaches. As a result, such setups do not scale well with system size and are especially unsuitable for systems where such centralized management instances cannot or must not be employed. As a potential solution to this problem we present SaM, the Self-aware Memory architecture. By using self-awareness, our approach provides a novel memory architecture concept targeting multi-master systems with special focus on autonomic, self-managing systems. Unlike previous attempts, the approach delivers a holistic, yet scalable and cost-friendly solution to several memory-related problems including maintaining coherency, consistency, and access rights.

Knowledge Management to Support Situation-aware Risk Management in Autonomous, Self-managing Agents
We present a novel approach to enable decision-making in a highly distributed multiagent environment where individual agents need to act in an autonomous fashion. Our architecture framework integrates risk management, knowledge management, and agent deliberation to enable sophisticated, autonomous decision-making. Instead of a centralized knowledge repository, our approach supports a highly dis...

With the continuously increasing integration level, manycore processor systems are likely to be the coming system structure not only in HPC but also for desktop or mobile systems. Nowadays manycore processors like Tilera TILE, KALRAY MPPA or Intel SCC combine a rising number of cores in a tiled architecture and are mainly designed for high performance applications with focus on direct inter-cor...

Objective: The purpose of the present study was to compare addiction memory intensity and self-control in successful and unsuccessful addiction withdrawal. Method: In this causal-comparative study, the population of the study consisted of male addicts who referred to Rasht addiction treatment clinics (District one) in 2018. Among them, 45 individuals with successful addiction withdrawal (more t...

Constitutive law for shape-memory alloys subjected to multi-axial loading, which is based on a semi-micromechanical integrated multi-plane model capable of internal mechanism observations, is generally not available in the literature. The presented numerical results show significant variations in the mechanical response along the multi loading axes. These are attributed to changes in the marten...
متن کاملRobotics: Environmental Awareness Through Cognitive Sensor Fusion
In order for autonomous mobile robots to survive in the real world they have to be aware of the environment. The self-assembling micro robots developed in the European project Replicator are destined for such a task. By using several modalities, these robots must be able to detect and recognize interesting objects in the environment. This thesis presents a biologically inspired cognitive sensor...
