چکیده

The Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) and the File Transfer Protocol (FTP) are both application-level protocols layered over the Transmission Control Protocol (TCP). HTTP is a request/response protocol used for the data transfer over the Internet. The primary function of FTP, on the other hand, is de...ned as transferring ...les e¢ciently and reliably among hosts. We study the statistical and dynamical properties of both HTTP and FTP tra¢c. We use Network Simulator (NS) to generate synthesized data for HTTP and FTP traf...c. We use the Canonical Correlation Analysis (CCA) as our statistical analysis tool. Both Linear Canonical Correlation Analysis (LCCA) and Nonlinear Canonical Correlation Analysis (NLCCA) are used to investigate deterministic, “chaotic,” and stochastic features of the signals. Comparison of linear predictor models and nonlinear predictor models suggests that the tra¢c signals possesses nonlinear features. Finally, NLCCA is implemented in a speci...c way, referred to as Alternating Conditional Expectation (ACE).

IP Packet Level vBNS Tra c Analysis and Modeling

In order to ensure continued availability of high-performance network for the nation's research and education community and to continue supporting the development of new high performance Internet capabilities, the National Science Foundation (NSF) established the very-high-speed Backbone Network Service (vBNS) through a cooperative agreement with MCI telecommunications Corporation. To ensure qu...

Long-Range-Dependence and Multifractal modeling of vBNS Tra c

In this paper we analyze a number of IP packet level very-high-speed Backbone Network Service (vBNS) tra c traces collected by the San Diego Supercomputer Center (SDSC) National Laboratory for Applied Network Research (NLANR) measurement and analysis group passive monitors at a number of highperformance connection (HPC) sites. Speci cally, we show that the vBNS tra c traces also have long-range...

Dynamic Routing on Networks with Fixed-size Buuers Extended Abstract

The combination of the bu er size of routers deployed in the Internet and the Internet tra c itself leads routinely to routers dropping packets. Motivated by this, we initiate the rigorous study of dynamic storeand-forward routing on arbitrary networks in a model in which dropped packets must explicitly be taken into account. To avoid the uncertainties of tra c modeling, we consider arbitrary t...

Matching Multi - Fractal Process Parameters Against Real Data

Recent analyses of real data/internet tra c indicate that data tra c exhibits long-range dependence as well as self-similar or multi-fractal properties. By using mathematical models of Internet tra c that share these properties we can perform analytical studies of network tra c. This gives us an opportunity to analyse potential bottlenecks and estimate delays in the networks. Processes with mul...

Partial Outer Convexification for Traffic Light Optimization in Road Networks

Abstract. We consider the problem of computing optimal tra c light programs for urban road intersections using tra c flow conservation laws on networks. Based on a Partial Outer Convexification approach, which has been successfully applied in the area of mixed-integer optimal control for systems of ordinary or di↵erential algebraic equations, we develop a computationally tractable two-stage sol...
