چکیده

Reject inference is the problem of inferring the good and bad properties of those customers who have not been accepted for a loan. We present a reject inference method based on the confidence interval of a median survival time to delayed repayment. In this method, survival model is built based on the accepted applicant data and is applied to the rejected applicant. If the lower limit of the 90% confidence interval of the median life of the rejected applicant is longer than the median life of the accepted applicants, we consider the rejected applicant should have been accepted. The proposed method has an advantage of predicting the time to delayed repayment for an applicant with associated characteristics so that the proper loan duration can be set. q 2005 Elsevier Ltd. Investigating the Theory of Survival Analysis in Credit Risk Management of Facility Receivers: A Case Study on Tose'e Ta'avon Bank of Guilan Province

Nowadays, one of the most important topics in risk management of banks, financial, and credit institutions is credit risk management. In this research, the researchers used survival analytic methods for credit risk modeling in terms of the conditional distribution function of default time. As a practical task, the authors considered the reward credit portfolio of Tose'e Ta'avon Bank of Guilan P...

An Overview of Model Based Reject Inference for Credit Scoring

Reject inference is the process of estimating the risk of defaulting for loan applicants that are rejected under the current acceptance policy. In this survey article we show how the problem of reject inference can be viewed as one of statistical inference with incomplete data. We use a well known classification of missing data mechanisms into ignorable and nonignorable to organize the discussi...

Lean Models and Reject Inference

Credit scoring models are normally built using only applicants who have been previously accepted for credit. Such non-random sample selection may produce bias in estimated model parameters and accordingly model predictions of repayment performance may not be optimal. Previous empirical research suggests that omission of rejected applicants has a detrimental impact on model estimation and predic...
