Characterization of poly(2-Hydroxyethyl Methacrylate) Scaffolds for Tissue Engineering

چکیده
Physical properties of scaffolds intended for myocardial tissue regeneration were studied. Mechanical properties and degradation rates were evaluated for degradable scaffolds composed of poly (2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate) (pHEMA) crosslinked with polycaprolactone (PCL). pHEMA copolymerized with tetraethylene glycol as a crosslinker served as a control. Fibroblast cells were used for cytotoxicity tests of extract media from scaffolds. Statistical analysis of samples submersed in 0.1M NaOH concluded that as crosslinking density increases, rate of degradation decreases. We have shown that changing crosslinking densities of a pHEMA/PCL gel affects degradation in a predictable manner.

The aim of this work is to evaluate the potential of cryogels to be used as scaffolds in tissue engineering. Scaffolds based on the α-tricalcium phosphate reinforced PDMAEMA (Poly(dimethyl aminoethyl methacrylate))/PHEMA (poly(hydroxyethyl methacrylate)) system were prepared and human trabecular bone-derived cells (HTBs) and bone marrow derived-mesenchymal stem cells (BM-MSCs) cultured on them....

A copolymer composed of poly(2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate) (PHEMA) and poly(ethylene glycol) diacrylate (PEGDA) (PHEMA-PEGDA) is structurally versatile. Its structure can be adjusted using the following porogens: water, sucrose, and benzyl alcohol. Using phase separation technique, a variety of surface architectures and pore morphologies were developed by adjusting porogen volume and type. The w...

Successful regeneration of biological tissues in vitro requires the utilization of three-dimensional (3D) scaffolds that provide a near natural microenvironment for progenitor cells to grow, interact, replicate, and differentiate to form target tissues. In this work, a rapid aqueous photo-polymerization route was developed toward the fabrication of a variety of polymer hydrogel 3D inverted coll...

We have developed a method to create longitudinally oriented channels within poly(2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate) (pHEMA) hydrogels for neural tissue engineering applications. Incorporated into an entubulation strategy, these scaffolds have the potential to enhance nerve regeneration after transection injuries of either the spinal cord or the peripheral nerve by increasing the available surface ar...

Nanofibrous scaffolds produced by electrospinning have attracted much attention, recently. Aligned and random nanofibrous scaffolds of poly (vinyl alcohol) (PVA), poly (ε-caprolactone) (PCL) and nanohydroxyapatite (nHA) were fabricated by electrospinning method in this study. The composite nanofibrous scaffolds were subjected to detailed analysis. Morphological investigations revealed that the...
