Reflecting Cavity Blackbodies for Radiometry
نویسنده
چکیده
Nearly 20 years ago Quinn and Martin presented a novel blackbody design with an absorbing end face and highly reflecting side walls. This blackbody had the considerable advantage of being less sensitive to temperature gradients along the side walls (potentially of several degrees Celsius) compared to an all-black cavity. Recent work at NPL has developed this concept further, laying out the conceptual framework in simple terms, analyzing potential pitfalls such as diffraction, and describing a design which closely matches the theoretical best performance.

Energy distributions and stellar parameters
AGB variables of types Lb, SRa, SRb, and Mira are studied by fitting combinations of blackbodies to visual, near infrared and IRAS data. This paper supplements an earlier work dealing with a smaller sample of SRa and SRb variables. The fitted parameters T ∗, T d and Rd/R∗ are related to physically meaningful quantities. Also, quantities derived from the fits like the ratio of the luminosities o...
متن کاملTG35 Emissivity of Blackbody Cavities
Blackbodies are commonly used as a transfer medium in the calibration of radiation thermometers. The ideal blackbody is perfectly isothermal and has an emissivity of precisely 1 at all wavelengths. However, no real material has an emissivity as high as 1, so practical blackbodies are created by forming a cavity, made to be as isothermal as possible, inside a material with a relatively high intr...
متن کاملOn the Equation which Governs Cavity Radiation II
In this work, the equation which properly governs cavity radiation is addressed once again, while presenting a generalized form. A contrast is made between the approach recently taken (P.M. Robitaille. On the equation which governs cavity radiation. Progr. Phys., v. 2, no. 2, 126–127) and a course of action adopted earlier by Max Planck. The two approaches give dramatically differing conclusion...

In the present research work, a specific 285 bp DNA fragment was used for detection of Mycobacterium Tuberculosis complex. 100 samples were chosen randomly from sputum specimens that were negative with conventional methods (direct smear, culture, and radiometry), and examined by PCR 7 cases of them were positive. Also, 20 sputum specimens were obtained from suspected patients to tuberculosis, a...
متن کاملHigh-resolution broadband (>100 cm-1) infrared heterodyne spectro-radiometry using an external cavity quantum cascade laser.
Broadband thermal infrared heterodyne spectro-radiometry using an external cavity quantum cascade laser as a tunable local oscillator has been performed over a frequency range of more than 100 cm(-1) at a central frequency of 1190 cm(-1). Heterodyne spectro-radiometry is demonstrated for two local oscillator tuning modes: broadband tuning for transmission and emission spectroscopy of broadband ...
