چکیده

We consider a realistic model of a multiclass make-to-stock manufacturing system. External demand for each product class is met from the available nished goods inventory; unsatis ed demand is backlogged. The objective is to devise a production policy that minimizes inventory costs subject to guaranteeing stockout probabilities to stay bounded above by given constants j , for each product class j (service level guarantees). Such a policy determines whether the facility should be producing (idling decisions), and if it should, which product class (sequencing decisions). We analyze a corresponding uid model of the system to take sequencing decisions and employ large deviations techniques to take idling ones. We consider both linear and quadratic inventory cost structures to obtain a priority-based and a generalized longest queue rst-based production policy, respectively. Our analysis is general enough to accommodate autocorrelated demand and service processes, both critical features of modern failure-prone manufacturing systems.

Service Level Based Capacity Rationing Procedure for Make-To-Order Manufacturing Systems

We extend a heuristic method within the framework of “dynamic capacity apportionment procedure” (DCAP) to allocate an existing capacity among the classes with different profit contributions. In general, DCAP is applied when some capacity shortage exists and can not be enhanced in short - run. Our proposed approach is constructed for a make - to - order manufacturing system that produces a varie...

Multi-site production planning in hybrid make-to-stock/make-to-order production environment

Today competitive environment has enforced practitioners and researchers to pay great attention to issues enhancing both production and marketing competitiveness. To do so, it has been obligatory for the firms to consider production side activities while customer requirements are on the other side of competition. In this regard, hybrid make-to-stock (MTS)/make-to-order (MTO) production systems ...

A service decomposition and definition model in cloud manufacturing systems using game theory focusing on cost accounting perspectives

Cloud manufacturing is a new paradigm which has been under study since 2010 and a vast body of research has been conducted on this topic. Among them, service composition problems are of utmost importance. However, most studies only focused on private clouds meaning the objective function is defined for just one component of the supply chain. This paper attempts to consider service composition p...

A Batch-wise ATP Procedure in Hybrid Make-to-Order/Make-to-Stock Manufacturing Environment

Satisfying customer demand necessitates manufacturers understanding the importance of Available-To-Promise (ATP). It directly links available resources to customer orders and has significant impact on overall performance of a supply chain. In this paper, an improvement of the batch-mode ATP function in which the partial fulfillment of the orders is available will be proposed. In other words, in...

FP/FIFO Scheduling: Coexistence of Deterministic and Probabilistic QoS Guarantees

In this paper, we focus on applications with quantitative QoS (Quality of Service) requirements in their end-to-end response time (or jitter). We propose a solution allowing the coexistence of two types of quantitative QoS guarantees, deterministic and probabilistic, while providing high resource utilization. Our solution combines the advantages of both the deterministic and the probabilistic a...
