Ocean Flow Visualization in Virtual Environment

Flow visualization is a hot research topic in scientific visualization. Oceanographic visualization in virtual environment helps a meteorologist gain deep insight into the flow evolution with immersive experience. This paper addresses both in broadth and in depth a variety of flow visualization techniques such as streamline, pathline, timeline, streakline, topology-based feature extraction, Line Integral Convolution (LIC), fast LIC, UFLIC (Unsteady Flow LIC), and fast UFLIC, which are integrated into a CAVE-based ocean flow visualization system.
