Immunoglobulin and T Cell Receptor fi Chain Gene Rearrangement Analysis of Ocular Adnexal Lymphoid Neoplasms : Clinical and Biologic Implications

چکیده
We investigated the organization of the immunoglobulin heavy chain (IgH) and the T cell receptor beta chain (T$) gene loci in 20 ocular adnexal and four extraocular lymphoid neoplasms obtained from 1 8 patients presenting with an ocular adnexal lymphoid neoplasm. Fifteen ocular adnexal and four extraocular lymphoid neoplasms occurring in 1 3 patients were classified by morphological examination and immunophenotypic analysis as monoclonal B cell lymphomas. Each one of these 1 9 lymphoid neoplasms exhibited clonal IgH gene rearrangements upon hybridization of EcoRlor Hindlll-digested DNA to a heavy-chain joining region (JH)-specific DNA probe. The bilateral ocular adnexal monoclonal B cell neoplasms occurring simultaneously in two individuals exhibited identical clonal IgH gene rearrangements. which indicated their derivation from an identical B cell clone. The ocular adnexal and the extraocular monoclonal B cell neoplasms occurring in two of three patients also exhibited identical clonal IgH gene

PURPOSE To describe the clinical features, histologic findings, flow cytometric immunophenotypes, and molecular profiles of ocular adnexal lymphoid proliferations. STUDY DESIGN Prospective noncomparative case series. PARTICIPANTS Forty-three patients suspected of having ocular adnexal lymphoid proliferations were biopsied and prospectively evaluated. METHODS Provisional diagnoses were mad...

We investigated 16 lymphoid proliferations occurring in the ocular adnexa, salivary glands, breast, and thyroid gland and satisfying the histopathologic and immunophenotypic criteria of benign lymphoid hyperplasia for the presence of clonal rearrangements of the antigen receptor, c-myc, bcl-1, and bcl-2 genes and Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) DNA sequences. Each of these 16 extranodal, noncutaneous ...
متن کاملJapanese case of follicular lymphoma of ocular adnexa diagnosed by clinicopathologic, immunohistochemical, and molecular genetic techniques
BACKGROUND Follicular lymphomas of the ocular adnexa are very rare in Japan, with only two reported cases. CASE A 44-year-old woman visited our clinic for treatment of ocular adnexal tumors in both eyes. FINDINGS Histologic examination showed that the neoplastic lesions consisted of atypical lymphoid cells, and the tentative diagnosis was malignant lymphoma. Immunophenotypic analyses by flo...
