Reconciliation of RDF* and Property Graphs

چکیده

Both the notion of Property Graphs (PG) and the Resource Description Framework (RDF) are commonly used models for representing graph-shaped data. While there exist some systemspecific solutions to convert data from one model to the other, these solutions are not entirely compatible with one another and none of them appears to be based on a formal foundation. In fact, for the PG model, there does not even exist a commonly agreed-upon formal definition. The aim of this document is to reconcile both models formally. To this end, the document proposes a formalization of the PG model and introduces well-defined transformations between PGs and RDF. As a result, the document provides a basis for the following two innovations: On one hand, by implementing the RDF-to-PG transformations defined in this document, PG-based systems can enable their users to load RDF data and make it accessible in a compatible, systemindependent manner using, e.g., the graph traversal language Gremlin or the declarative graph query language Cypher. On the other hand, the PG-to-RDF transformation in this document enables RDF data management systems to support compatible, system-independent queries over the content of Property Graphs by using the standard RDF query language SPARQL. Additionally, this document represents a foundation for systematic research on relationships between the two models and between their query languages. If you have comments or suggestions about this proposal, as well as implementations or applications thereof, do not hesitate to let the author know about them.

Roman domination excellent graphs: trees

A Roman dominating function (RDF) on a graph $G = (V, E)$ is a labeling $f : V rightarrow {0, 1, 2}$ suchthat every vertex with label $0$ has a neighbor with label $2$. The weight of $f$ is the value $f(V) = Sigma_{vin V} f(v)$The Roman domination number, $gamma_R(G)$, of $G$ is theminimum weight of an RDF on $G$.An RDF of minimum weight is called a $gamma_R$-function.A graph G is said to be $g...

A Tale of Two Graphs: Property Graphs as RDF in Oracle

Graph Databases are gaining popularity, owing to pervasiveness of graph data in social networks, physical sciences, networking, and web applications. A majority of these databases are based on the property graph model, which is characterized as key/value-based, directed, and multi-relational. In this paper, we consider the problem of supporting property graphs as RDF in Oracle Database. We intr...

Evaluating SPARQL 1.1 Property Path Support

With the release of SPARQL 1.1 in 2013 property paths were introduced, which make it possible to describe queries that do not explicitly define the length of the path that is traversed within an RDF graph. Already existing RDF stores were adapted to support property paths. In order to give an insight on how well the current implementations of property paths in RDF stores work, we introduce a be...

Jena Property Table Implementation

A common approach to providing persistent storage for RDF is to store statements in a three-column table in a relational database system. This is commonly referred to as a triple store. Each table row represents one RDF statement. For RDF graphs with frequent patterns, an alternative storage scheme is a property table. A property table comprises one column containing a statement subject plus on...

Benchmarks for SPARQL Property Paths Bachelorarbeit

The Resource Description Framework (RDF) is a triple based representation of directed graphs with labelled edges. With the emergence of RDF graphs special databases, called RDF stores, were developed. In order to query graphs, which are stored in these RDF stores, the query language SPARQL Protocol And Query Language (SPARQL) is used. With the help of this query language it is possible to descr...
