چکیده

We report a systematic study of the photoelectron spectroscopy of hydrated electrons in liquid water jets using multiple precursors and photodetachment wavelengths. Hydrated electrons were generated in and detached from liquid microjets using two photons from a single nanosecond laser pulse at 266 or 213 nm. Solutions of 50 to 250 mM potassium hexacyanoferrate(II) or potassium iodide were used to provide precursor anions. All of our experimental conditions yield similar results, giving a mean vertical binding energy of 3.6 ± 0.1 eV at a temperature of 280 K, a slightly higher value than in recent reports. 2010 Elsevier B.V. Time-Resolved Photoelectron Spectroscopy of the Hydrated Electron: Comparing Cavity and Noncavity Models to Experiment.

We use nonadiabatic mixed quantum/classical molecular dynamics to simulate recent time-resolved photoelectron spectroscopy (TRPES) experiments on the hydrated electron, and compare the results for both a cavity and a noncavity simulation model to experiment. We find that cavity-model hydrated electrons show an "adiabatic" relaxation mechanism, with ground-state cooling that is fast on the time ...

Time- and angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy of hydrated electrons near a liquid water surface.

We present time- and angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy of trapped electrons near liquid surfaces. Photoemission from the ground state of a hydrated electron at 260 nm is found to be isotropic, while anisotropic photoemission is observed for the excited states of 1,4-diazabicyclo[2,2,2]octane and I- in aqueous solutions. Our results indicate that surface and subsurface species create hyd...

Dynamics of electron solvation in molecular clusters.

Solvated electrons, and hydrated electrons in particular, are important species in condensed phase chemistry, physics, and biology. Many studies have examined the formation mechanism, reactivity, spectroscopy, and dynamics of electrons in aqueous solution and other solvents, leading to a fundamental understanding of the electron-solvent interaction. However, key aspects of solvated electrons re...

Photoelectron spectroscopy of hydrated adenine anions.

We report the observation of hydrated adenine anions, A(-)(H(2)O)(n), n=1-7, and their study by anion photoelectron spectroscopy. Values for photoelectron threshold energies, E(T), and vertical detachment energies are tabulated for A(-)(H(2)O)(n) along with those for hydrated uracil anions, U(-)(H(2)O)(n), which are presented for comparison. Analysis of these and previously measured photoelectr...

X-Ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy Enhanced by Machine Learning

X-Ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) is a technique for identifying individual elements in a mixture/compound. Samples are irradiated by X-rays and the kinetic energy of ejected electrons is measured. Ejected electrons are captured by a spectrometer and measured intensities are plotted versus kinetic energy (Fig. 1). Each element appears as a series of peaks distributed as Gaussians/Lorentzia...
