چکیده

The stability of strongly bound excited states of Cat Cz and Cz’ resulting from double excitations of the type aE+MO’ relative to the ground-state configuration (with MO2 standing for 317:, 3a&r” or lx: ) was investigated using a multi-reference MRD-CI method. For Cz, the doubly excited configuration 30~1~: corresponds to the experimentally observed E’C: (3’Z: ) state, which exhibits a heavy mixing with the less bonding configurations 20:1x: (X’C,’ ) and 2a~3a~lx~ (2’Z: ). This mixing is reflected in two ways: the E’,Y,’ state does not show the features expected for a strongly bound state (i.e. short R, and high o,), but despite its mainly two-electron 3a,lrr,+2a~ character it allows the emission band E’C: +AlZZ, to be observed with a moderate intensity by one-photon spectroscopy. The states l*.Zz (2cr,lxi) and 2*x,’ (30,ln~ ) of C: as well as 23,‘fl,, (3r4la~ ) and 3r,?Y: (1~: ) of Cg+ exhibit a definite enhanced bond strength relative to the ground state. Radiative decay from all these doubly excited states into lower-lying, singly excited 217, states should be suitable for experimental study because of favorable Franck-Condon envelopes and the one-electron character of the transition.

Calculations of energies of intrashell doubly excited states of beryllium-like ions

Energy levels of doubly excited states of beryllium-like ions are calculated using the conventional configuration-interaction method. The interactions of the two outer electrons with the inert ls2 core electrons are represented by a model potential. The resulting energies of ls23/3[’ and 1s24/4/’ doubly excited states, designated in terms of the K, T and A correlation quantum numbers, are used ...

Systematic studies of the molecular properties of intrashell and intershell doubly excited states of C 4 + and He

The molecular (and antimolecular) properties of a large number of intrashell and intershell doubly excited states of C4+ and He are studied. By comparing a number of expectation values using wavefunctions calculated by the truncated diagonalisation method (TDM) and the group theoretic doubly excited symmetry basis (DESB) functions, the origin of the molecular properties of doubly excited states...

Hyperspherical analysis of doubly and triply excited states of Li

A computational method for calculating the hyperspherical adiabatic potential curves for three-electron atomic systems is presented. This method allows us to obtain accurate potential curves for any symmetries more efficiently. The potential curves for the Li(S) symmetry are analyzed. For the ground state, the energy calculated using the single channel adiabatic approximation is in good agreeme...

Attosecond two-photon interferometry for doubly excited states of helium.

We show that the correlation dynamics in coherently excited doubly excited resonances of helium can be followed in real time by two-photon interferometry. This approach promises to map the evolution of the two-electron wave packet onto experimentally easily accessible noncoincident single-electron spectra. We analyze the interferometric signal in terms of a semianalytical model which is validat...

Microscopic Parameters in the Excited State of Toluene and Some of Its Haloderavatives

The Ultraviolet-visible (UV) spectra of toluene, ortho-bromo and para-bromo toluene in different solvents have been studied. The electric dipole moments and polarizabilities in the molecular excited electronic states were determined. It was found that the electric dipole moments for the excited states (µ*) and the ground states (µ) of these compounds are equal, and the change in dipole moment i...
