The size of switching classes with skew gains

چکیده
Gain graphs are graphs in which each edge has a gain (a label from a group, say ?, so that reversing the direction, inverses the gain). In this paper we take a generalized view of gain graphs in which the label of an edge is related to the label of the reverse edge by an involution. Applying selectors to gain graphs is a generalization of vertex-switching (or Seidel switching) of an undirected graph. In this paper we compute the sizes of the resulting equivalence classes of gain graphs. This size can be determined by computing the size of an appropriate subgroup of ?. We rst examine the case that the graph is complete. Then we show how to reduce the general problem to connected graphs and prove that if the graph is connected, but not bipartite, it can be reduced to the complete case. The connected, bipartite case is solved separately.

Switching classes are equivalence classes of gain graphs under...
متن کاملThe Embedding Problem for Switching Classes
In the context of graph transformation we look at the operation of switching, which can be viewed as an elegant method for realizing global transformations of (group-labelled) graphs through local transformations of the vertices. In case vertices are given an identity, various relatively efficient algorithms exist for deciding whether a graph can be switched so that it contains some other graph...
متن کاملOn Involutive Anti-Automorphisms of Finite Abelian Groups
We investigate various aspects of involutions of groups, i.e, anti-automorphisms of order at most two. The emphasis is on finite abelian groups. We count the number of involutions for the cyclic groups, and consider the problem for direct products of groups. We also give a characterization for the set of skewed squares of finitely generated abelian groups with identity as the involution. The pr...
