Modelling nonlinear regenerative effects in metal cutting

چکیده
This paper deals with the nonlinear models of regenerative chatter on machine tools. The limitations and actual problems of the existing theory are summarized. These cause difficulties in industrial applications, like in the design of optimum technological parameters, adaptive control and/or vibration-suppression strategies. An industrial machine-tool vibration case is analysed experimentally and conclusions are drawn with respect to the likely mechanism of the nonlinear behaviour in a fourdimensional phase-space representation embedded in the infinite-dimensional phase space of regenerative chatter. In some respects, the whole phenomenon seems to be analogous to the turbulence in fluid mechanics.

In nano/micro cutting process, the surface quality is heavily dependent on all the dynamic factors in machining including those from the material, tooling, cutting parameters, servo accuracy, mechanical structure deformation, and non-linear factors as well. The machined surfaces are generated based on the tool profile and the real tool path combining with the various external and internal distu...
متن کاملTheoretical Approximation of the Vibration in a Regenerative Cutting Process
ABSTRACT In this paper, the phenomenon of chatter vibration in metal cutting is investigated. For this purpose, a theoretical one-degree of freedom model of the vibrations generated in an orthogonal cutting process is developed. The dynamic cutting forces are strongly affected by the variations of the cutting process parameters, and the model is based on the mechanical theoretical prediction of...
متن کاملChaotic vibrations in a regenerative cutting process
We have analyzed vibrations generated in an orthogonal cutting process. Using a simple one degree of freedom model of the regenerative cutting we have observed the complex behaviour of the system. In presence of a shaped cutting surface, the nonlinear interaction between the tool and a workpiece leads the to chatter vibrations of periodic, quasi-periodic or chaotic type depending on system para...

T he study seeks to investigate both linear and nonlinear effects of oil price movement on critical macroeconomic variables (output, price and exchange rate) in Nigeria using ARDL modeling approach. Previous studies substantially relied on linear methods using VAR approach to unravel this links without a clear conclusion. In an attempt to seek better results in this study, we employ both l...
